Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.
4. Improper fuel level in float bowl.
5. Worn or dirty inlet valve or seat.
6. Damaged or leaky float assembly.
7. Particle contamination in inlet fitting cavity.
Good luck

SOURCE: picture wiring diagram for 2003 harley fatboy

May I suggest a trip to your local library. Cycle repair books should be in 646 stacks of reference.
Otherwise you can Google for 2003 Clymer Service manuals on the internet.
I think Clymer had electrical diagrams in their books. I doubt that any except the HD service book would have anything about the physical location of the harness, but the pictures in the other books would help you.

You'll be better off with an OEM manual. You can get one at any dealer or order one online for any dealer.

Don't think so. Sportster and Dyna wheels interchange, depending on the year. Check with dealer for the Sporty/Dyna wheels that will fit.

Installing a led fuel guage 0n my2001 fatboy do i just use the orange &blk wires

If the LED fuel gauge does not have connectors to match the factory connectors, then you need to take this to a qualified tech or return the product. See the diagram for connection points. "Brand X" electrical products are challenging to install.

98 harley fatboy turns over but wont start

some after market ignitions don't spark on the first couple of turns but first take off your air cleaner twist the throttle and look to see if gas is spraying in the carb if not give it a little starting fluid if it fires but then dies then its carb issue. now other thing to check is if you have three posts on your coil then its single fire and your plug wires might be going to the wrong spot switch um around.

Which way to turn the gas shutoff valve for reserve on 92 harley fatboy

Hi Anonymous, if you have a carbuerator the petcock/fuel valve is located on bottom rear of the left side of the fuel tank. With the long end of the lever pointing straight back the fuel valve is in the off position and no fuel will flow to the carbuerator, with it pointing straight down the valve allows fuel flow from the gas tank to the carbuerator, with it pointing straight forward it is in reserve mode and you have roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of fuel left in the gas tank. If you are fuel injected the is a low fuel warning light either on the dash or speedometer. If you have a fuel gauge refuel before it hits empty just like your car. Good luck and have nice day.

02 fatboy, w carb, going down the road and it will hiccup or **** as i call it, had a tune-up, but stil lhappening....sometimes i dont think i will make it home it runs so bad......

I'm going to assume that by "hiccup", you're talking about the engine spitting back through the carb or simply missing sporadically. If this is the case, it sounds like your bike is running lean for some reason. There are several possibilities. One, the bike is jetted too lean. Maybe this problem has just started, if so, it may be the fuel that you're buying. Make sure that the fuel does not contain over 10% ethanol. They've been playing games with that here lately. Next, there could be trash in the jets in the carb and it needs to be disassembled and cleaned. Or the fuel petcock on the tank may be giving a problem. Harley uses a vacuum operated petcock and if the diaphragm gets a hole in it the fuel flow to the carb could be reduced causing the engine to be on the verge of running out of gas even though the tank may be full. Finally, you could have a vacuum leak at the intake to head gasket or at the intake to carb seal. Check the hose that plugs onto the backside of the carb that goes to the VOES and the petcock for cracks. Also, check you fuel cap on the right side. If the vent is stopped up, your tanks cannot vent air to the inside and a vacuum will build in them reducing the fuel flow. I hope this helps.

I have a 2002 fatboy and while it rides fine while cruising,it dies when I come to a stop.It wont idle unless I'm on the throttle

If your Fatboy is carb equipped you need to set the idle speed a bit higher. If you're still running the stock carb, remove the air cleaner cover. You'll see a square looking plastic top on the carb. Just to the right (toward the front of the bike) you'll see a screw. This is the idle stop screw. Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed. Set the idle speed with the engine at full operating temp. It should idle at about 1000 RPM.

If your bike is fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a shop to get the idle speed set as it's done electronically.

Good Luck

Was wondering about spike air filter the one i want to buy says its for a cv carb delphi. dont understand the delphi part of the description because im just looking for it to fit my stock cv carb on my...

Delphi is referencing to a type of fuel injection system that Harley uses. They've used two type and Delphi is one of them. I can't remember the other one but I believe it was an earlier unit. I know nothing about Harley's fuel injection. Sounds like the filter will fit either a carburated engine or a fuel injected engine.

Gas leak on Harley Fatboy, how to repair?

Most fuel leaks are caused by problems with the float bowl ( overflow not shuting off) You really don't give much info so we have to assume its a carb.

2002 harley fatboy will not start

Let me start by saying I've owned Harleys for twenty years and do all my own work, so don't let the computer expertise on my profile detour you from taking my advice. There are several things that can cause a no start, you'll need to narrow it down to either a fuel problem or a fire problem. Start by checking the spark. Take a plug out, ground it to the head, and crank the engine. If there's is no spark then you need to start tracing it back. Check the coil, ignition module, and voltage regulator connections and wires. Most of the time when you lose fire it's a loose or broken wire/connector, or the coil or ignition module has failed. The regulator can cause a loss of spark, but generally only causes the battery to go dead. Rare, but occasionally the magneto will go out. If you have a good spark, then check for fuel. Turn off the petcock and take the fuel line loose at the carb or injection end, then turn the petcock back on and see if you have fuel getting to the carb/injection system. If not, then you have a faulty petcock, or a plugged screen in the petcock. If you are getting fuel, then, if carbureted, take the carb off, clean it, and check the jets and other internal workings. If this is an injected model, I'm afraid you'll have to take it to a shop that has the diagnostic tools to read and calibrate the injection system. Wow, this is starting to get long winded. Try these and let me know, I have a wealth of knowledge available to me from guys I ride with.
