Hello Eric and thanks its a Kawasaki gpx 250 1994 model. The only fuse I can find so far is a holder red in colour with one 30amp fuse. I checked that and when I pull it out the ignition lights go off when put back in they come on again. I might have to go through the painful process of undoing the tape to follow where the head, right wires run to which I don't want to do. I still have brake light and indicators working. got me beat?

Hello again Eric. OK natey found the little bugger. The fuse box had been put on switched around so I could not read fuses. Thanks for your help multi meter showing a healthy 12.98V, it was a blown 10amp fuse.

Eric I found the fuse box where you said near the battery on the right side of the frame. it was turned around and did Nov show fuses on the box. Anyway mate all fixed tks to you. Was a 10amp fuse blown. I reinstalled the headlight and new green halo led ring and all working great. Thanks VM - Armo

Check the bulb first, then the fuse.

Did you just replace the bulb with the LED? If so, you probably got the wrong bulb. Make sure it is a 2 circuit bulb like an 1157 dual filament.

SOURCE: Brake lights don't work

Test the bulbs, either with a multimeter or by taking leads from the battery (one from each terminal) and touching them on the bulbs terminals...no light...new bulb.
If bulbs are OK then clean all terminals with emery paper. Still no luck...use mulitimeter to test continuity from fuse to bulb seat terminal. If no continuity check the wiring has not been damaged...if so replace it. Usually this is a corrosion problem. Good Luck.

I don't think you have a short. It sounds like the earth cable is broken somewhere and is arcing when you start drawing a bit of current.

Your truck may have had the factory trailer tow package, but that did not come with a wiring connector in that year. There should be a wire harness under the rear of the truck near the center of the bumper with 7 wires of the following colors/characteristics -

Red/Orange - +12V Battery (Thick Wire) From fuse #8 (40A)
Black/Orange - Tail Markers (Thick Wire)
Light Blue - Trailer Brakes (Thick Wire)
Violet/Black - Backup Lights (Thin Wire)
Dark Green/Red - Left Stop/Turn - (Thin Wire)
Brown/Red - Right Stop/Turn - (Thin Wire)
Black - Ground - (Thick Wire)

Under the dash, the brake controller wiring should be -

Red/Orange - +12V Battery (Thick Wire) From fuse #8 (40A)
Black/Orange - Ground - (Thick Wire)
Light Blue - Trailer Brakes (Thick Wire)
White/Tan - Brake Light sense - (Thin Wire)

Hope this helps.

2011 Mercury Milan LED tail light out

Yes, I have a 2011 Milan as well and both sides of mine went out. One last year (2013) and the other side recently. My car is no longer under warranty and the dealer said they it would be $417 to repair. Ford needs to fix this issue because from what I have been reading it is a common problem and it is a safety issue!

I am haveing problems with the lights on my 2002 pontica montana van head lights work but no dash lights in no tail lights.turn single blinker noise is stuck on all the time.in all this happend after

Hi David, What sounds more likely to me is that when you were rear ended a short circuit has caused all the other problems Start by checking the broken wires from the trailer as they may have come into contact with each other and be causing the short circuit. If a short has occurred you'll need to follow the damage all the way through to find out what cables have been damaged and how far the damage has extended and then rectify it. Regards John

I have a 2005 Kawasaki z750s. Both headlights went out at the same time. My tail lights and all dash lights work. Is it a fuse or wiring?!

Possible water damage to head light relay in the fuse box under the seat or the stator which controls the head light relay. Get a auto electrician to do an trace check on the wiring & connections to rule out all other faults. If the lights cut out after an heavy bump and come back on after a set time, the fault could be the relay or stator. Have the auto electrician resolder the relay connections in the fuse box (about 40 connections), also have an 12v LED warning light fitted to the stator connections with enough wiring so the LED can be mounted on the handle bar. If the LED cuts out the stator is at fault(very costly), if the LED stays on the head light relay is at fault. Also better waterproof the standard fuse box , the case is not that waterproofed (easy done with insulation tape). Hope this helps.

Tail lights shorting out and need to find a way to figure out where the problem is

There must be a short perhaps caused by the wiring to anything on that circuit touching earth. Only a good inspection of the wiring for the tail lights and the instruments will find it and concentrating on the areas where th wiring bends like around the steering head might find it faster.-------- Also check the tail light fuse, if its causing the short.Remove the fuse and clean it and re- fit it. Fuse is in the box under the left ram air cover. Should be labeled "Signals" on the diagram on the fuse box cover, in most of the Yamaha motor cycles. You will have to test for voltage when brake is applied. If the tail light shows voltage, there is power. If no voltage, then there is short. The tail light bulb, at the back of bulb, there will be a connector from where, you will have to follow the wire till the front wiring harness. If there is short, the wires will show voltage, even without depressing brake and turning the bike ON.The shorted wires must be getting power directly from battery, as per that , you can re-wire the tail light.-------- You can run additional wire from tail light bulb socket to main wiring harness and see, if tail light works properly. If its works, that means old wiring is causing the short and wirings needs to be rebuild. But if tail light not working with new wiring too, then its ground issue, the connections are getting in contact and causing the short.-------- As per that you can start troubleshooting.---------- this should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
