Hi there , my injected blackbirds choke has stopped working, after a cam chain rebuild, all gaskets were renewed, everything cleaned and repainted, initial start up was good and choke was activated,

Good morning Craig, I stand corrected on your model being fuel injected and having a manual choke on the throttle body so sorry, humble apologies, ok you need to observe the action of the lever that is connected to a shaft that appears to actuate 4 fuel enrichners that are connected to the throttle body and would move in and out at the same time when the choke lever is moved at least that's what I have gleaned from the OEM parts fiche. Engine lopes 21.5HP OHV Inteck Briggs&Stratton How do I correct this LOPING problem? If I disconnect any one of the two spark plugs while the engine is running it smooths out. I had removed both the Choke...

It sounds like a dirty carburetor. The carb needs to be removed and cleaned. The loping problem you speak of is a tell tale sign that something is partially blocking a jet or passage in your carb. If you are not sure of how to do it, bring it to a repair shop. To set choke cable, you want choke valve wide open when lever is pushed in and valve closed when lever is pulled/ There should be a screw you can loosen to move cable forward or backwards to adjust. Throttle cable should be snug at low idle when lever in bottom position. There should be a set screw for low idle already set if it hasn't been adjusted yet. Same process to adjust this cable, watch that throttle valve opens completely when throttle lever is all the way up. Good luck, hope this helped.

Need to change choke cable on a 2005 yamaha viagra, 250 cc not sure how to do this

Remove the Phillips head screw under your choke lever and retrieve the wave washer and other small parts there. The cable, with a large trunnion swaged here will come away from the lever.
The Carb end is more difficult... You can opt to remove the fuel tank, pump, cable bellcrank bracket (screwed to the top of the carb) for better access. If your fingers are small enough you might try without so nuch removal but your objective is to unscrew a hexagonal connector that holds the cable/spring and choke plunger in the carb.
Pull back the dustboot over the cable and you'll see it.
You should be able to use an open end wrench to loosen it then use fingetips to unscrew it, take care when removing the whole lot from the carb- the spring and choke plunger sit on the end of the cable held only by a small 3mm swage. remove these parts from the cable and pull the cable out through its guides along the frame. Assembly is the reverse. I hope this helps

I have a Ryobi HT26.In the back of the primer under before the gas tank is a choke lever and throttle lever. My choke lever is connected to nothing in the back or front of mygas diaphram.Does'nt it soppose...

If you remove the air filter you should see the choke butterfly valve on the air intake to the carburettor.
The choke lever should be connected to the axle of this valve on the outside of the carburettor.

It runs good but can't get it to start in cold weather. What should I do 85 Suzuki gs 550.

Without much other information of what has been done, I would start with the choke system. The choke cable may be detached or far out of adjustment. With a helper see if you can watch the choke cable move the choke lever on the carbs when you move the choke lever to full choke. Cables do break and or stretch. If that is the case then reconnect, replace, or adjust as necessary. If the choke lever and carb choke system is moving correctly then the problem may be in the carburators themselves.

Good Luck

I just bought a 2001 Yamaha R6 and the choke cable is there but not installed the cable just hangs. Does any one know how to fix the choke cable on a 2001 Yamaha r6 ?

hi, this is the best way to replace the choke cable, first remove the riders seat, 2 alun key bolts at the rear of the seat turn up the corners of the seat and you will find the bolts,
undo the tank fiking screws at the front of the tank and then prop up the fuel tank , remove the air box by undoing the 10mm bolt in the front of the airbox, then undo the clip/clips holding the airbox rubbers to the carburetors, lift of the airbox, now you will see the carburettors and the location of the choke cable sliding mechanisam,

undo from the handlebar the left hand switch unit and pull the 2 halfs apart you will then be able to remove the nipple of the old cable from the opperating lever, replace the new cable using a small amount of grease on the new nipple, then thread the new cable through the frame following the exact same route as the old cable and connect it to the carbs and check the opperation of the choke lever, pulling it on and off making sure when the choke is off that you have a small amount of frree play in your cable and the lever on the carb end is all the way home, if you are happy you havereplaced the control cable correctly, you can then reasemble the airbox, lower the tank and replace the seat, finaly recheck the operation of the controls before riding the machine on the road, regards, paul

Can Anybody please explain to me how you extricate the choke cable from the carb end a 250 Yamaha virago?this thing jams with regularity and I'm really jack of sending it to a workshop to be done.

Hi- I've had huge problems with choke cables jamming on my XV250 Virago and finally got fed-up with paying dudes to put on lousy cables at $80 per job- only to have 'em jam again in weeks! The problem is that the plastic inner liner eventually melts at the carb end and jams the cable tight. I've had a cable custom made without the plastic liner at the cablemakers advice. They're going to guarantee it to last too!
Undo the Phillips head screw under your choke lever and retrieve the wave washer and other bits therein. The cable, with a large trunnion swaged here will come away from the lever.
The Carby end is more difficult,
You can opt to remove the fuel tank, pump, cable bellcrank bracket (screwed to the top of the carb) for better access. If your fingers are small enough you might try without so nuch removal but your objective is to unscrew a hexagonal 'nipple' that holds the cable/spring and choke plunger in the carb.
Pull back the dustboot over the cable and you'll see it.
You should be able to use an open end wrench (about 11mm?) to loosen it then use fingetips to unscrew it (if loose enough!) take care when removing the whole lot from the carb- the spring and choke plunger sit on the end of the cable held only by a small 3mm swage. remove these parts from the cable and pull the cable out through its guides along the frame. Assembly is the reverse. I hope this helps some.

Have a 1982 Honda CB650SC NightHawk and had the carbs off and know the choke won't work.when you when you try to turn the choke off it's like the cable is

Check the routing of the choke cable and, basically, make sure it does not get kinked or pulled tight when the handlebars are turned from side to side. Then, remove any excess free play in the cable by turning the adjustment fitting that's part of the cable. You want it so that the choke mechanism on the carburetors begins to move as soon as the handlebar mounted choke lever is moved. If the cable is worn worn - or broken - replace it.
