Sounds like maybe the timing chain wasn't properly timed.

Actually, I meant to say the timing gears (cam gears, crankshaft gear) weren't properly timed.

Slack in chain on 2004 gsxr 600

Hi Sean:
To adjust the chain tension you need to move the rear wheel.
That involves slacking off the axle nuts, turning the nuts equally on the adjusters until you get the required tension, and then tightening the axle nuts. You should also check the prake pedal for correct amount of free play after doing a chain adjustment.

I have a 2007 gsxr and the bike will run if push started but won't start on its own with button.. I can hear something loss clicking by battery but not sure what is making the clicking sound.. had my cam...

Several things concern me..maybe the battery is might show 12-13 volts be have almost zero CCA (Cold Cranking Amps).. the CCA is what starts anything..take it to a battery shop and have it checked!! Who replaced the cam chain and tensioner?? ..why did you think it was too tight?? DO you KNOW how to properly check/adjust the tension???? (this concerns it right now.. or too tight or too loose now?? !!) If the battery checks good, sounds like the solenoid may have gone bad.... you can get it checked at a automotive store...Either the battery or the solenoid is going to be your starting problem...

How do I change a front sprocket?

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your inquiry.
Go to this link and drill down to below indicated: 2001 > 400 SX RACING > ENGINE > TRANSMISSION II
You can loosen the chain tension from the adjusters at the end of the swing arm. Then remove the mud guard (If exists) covering the front sprocket. Remove the M10 X 18mm bolt holding the sprocket. Slide the sprocket and chain off the spline and change out. If unable to slide off the spline you can always open the master link on the chain and do same step.

Use reverse process to re-install new sprocket. Readjust chain tension and make sure to re-tighten axel nuts. Good idea to use Locktite on the 10 x 18 bolt and spring washer holding the front sprocket. Replace mud guard or leave off as to your preference.
Kind regards,

My cam chain is rattley how do i tighten it ive a 89 zxr 400

There is a cam chain tensioner on the ZXR 400. It sounds like you need a new cam chain.

Important Note: The cam cahin tensioner is held on by the two bolts that hold the clutch cable bracket underneath the timing cover. Never loosen these bolt and re tighten them. If you need to undo them, remove the cam chain tensioner and reset it.

How do I tighten the chain on a 1979 Honda CB 400 Hawk?

loosen rear axle bolt and nut, tighten chain tensioner at rear axle, use the nut on the tension bolt to lock it down to the same calibrated distance(about 3/4 inch chain slack movement up and down not a total of 1 1/2) when the axle alignment is the same on left and right tighten the axle nut and bolt, lube the chain. Make sure you adjust the rear brake tension to make up for the wheel being moved toward the rear.

Loose chain

I had a few chain driven polaris atv's they tension when weight is on the quad, the rear arm pivots and applies tension to the chain , other then that there should just be guides for the chain. If the chain is still loose with operator weight the chain may have play in the pins and need replaced.
