I just bought this presario F700 in dec 2008. everything worked for 2 months .Then i noticed it wouldn't read any type of disc . I took it to a pc repair shop and they said i needed a new disc driver and it should still be under warranty . I don't know how to find out or how to get a new disc drive .
If you purchased the item new you should be able to check with the store and see if the warranty is still good. Although, since the PC was purchased in DEC 2008, I don't think your warranty will still be valid.
I have had a lot of luck simply contacting the manufacturer's customer service department and explaining my issues. Basically if they want to keep a customer they will generally try to help. I received a new motherboard for an HP one time because I was having so much trouble. My PC was 3 years old at the time and NOT under warranty.
As for a solution, you will probably need to purchase another disc drive which can be obtained through your local PC repair shop, directly from the PC manufacturer, or you might try places such as www.tigerdirect.com.

first thing is it a proper disc not a copy one. as it will not read a copy disc. 2 there are a few 2010 denso discs about for different models. some work some don't. 3 check the disc on a pc check it will be read on the pc or laptops drive.... reading disc all the time can also be the drive is dirty or the disc is so clean it or them. also check and see if another disc will work music etc. if you have the same problem with the music disc then its can be the lazer head its self it may need cleaning or has just faild
if you lost your drivers in dvd and cd player you will have to put your windows reboot disk in the when start up push f2 or f12 what ever set up your on then it will ask you question 3 ok run your reboot disc in d drive then enter then it will formate your computer of when u first bought it.
If its just one particular disc it won't read then its the disc, if it won't read any disc then its the drive. Most likely the lens may be dirty, unless its a moving parts fault. All professional advice says "do not touch the lens" but I have in the past used a can of compressed air to clean the lens and get more use from a drive, I've also used a very very soft cloth to gently clean the lens, failing that I've replaced the drive.
Ok it seems as if the drive may be dying or is dead. You said you used these disc before so the problem is with the media(disc) its with the medium*the drive) I dont think flashing the firware in this case will hely you will need to replace the drive :)
