Question about 1994 Suzuki GSX-R 750 WR

1 Answer

94 GSXR 750 DIED WHILE RIDING AND WILL CRANK BUT NOT START

I WAS RIDING MY BIKE ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND IT STARTED FINE, IDLED UP AND I ROAD ABOUT 3 MILES AND THE BIKE STALLED OUT. I LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 30 MINS AND IT CRANKED UP AND DROVE ABOUT ANOTHER MILE AND PARKED IT AND RAN IT FOR ABOUT 20 MINS ON HIGH IDLE. I LET IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS AND CAME BACK AND IT STARTED FINE BUT STALLED OUT ABOUT 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. LET IT SIT FOR 30 MINS AGAIN AND IT STARTED AGAIN AND STALLED OUT ABOUT 1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD. AND NOW IT WONT START AT ALL. THE PREVIOUS OWNER SAID THAT HE JUST HAD THE CARB JETTED AND CLEANED AND IT HAS A NEW FUEL **** ON IT AND LINES. BUT I TOOK THE TANK OFF AND THERE WAS ALOT OF DEBRIS IN BOTTOM OF TANK. I WAS NOT ABLE TO LOCATE A FUEL FILTER ON THE BIKE BUT THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE WHAT IT IS. COULD THE FUEL **** BE BACKED UP AND NOT LETTING THE FUEL THROUGH DUE TO THE DEBRIS OR WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM? THANKS BRAD

    This may seem like an odd question, but I'm no mechanic so here it goes......I have an '05 kat 600 that I just bought last weekend. I had the oil changed this morning and This afternoon I cranked it and let it sit and idle for about 10 min before I ran it...I only went about 3 miles and made a stop, noticed at stoplight it was idling high at about 2800rpms...then traveled about another mile and stopped again and it was still idling high around 2800 rpms....so I turned around and brought her home...I tried adjusting the idle knob on the left side of my bike but noticed that it's un hooked and wasn't making any difference either way I turned it!! ...So after it cooled down I went for another short ride (about 1 mile) and made a few stops...idled perfect at 1,000 rpms, but remember, the bike wasn't that hot.....so, my question is...how serious is it that I don't have the idle control plugged in? is this something that needs to be fixed ASAP? and if so, do I have to take off the fairings? keep in mind I AM NOT a mechanic. so if it needs to be done and it's fairly easy, let me know... thanks!!

There may not be an in-line fuel filter on the bike. Most bikes don't come with them. Yes, the fuel petcock has two screen filters on one pipe and they can get clogged up. Remove the tank then remove the petcock and clean it. The gas in the tank should be dumped into a clear plastic storage bin so that you can see if there is any water in the gas as well as rust and trash. Your bike is 15 years old and the inside of the tank may be rusty. If so, Google kreem fuel tank liner “ or go to

www.http://www.4secondsflat.com/Fuel_Tank_Sealer.html

This will end the rust problem. Go ahead an install an in-line fuel filter. There is a drain plug on the lower left side of each carb. Drain each carb into a clear container and look for water and trash. You may need to clean the carbs but hold off to see if the other stuff fixes the problem.

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock.

    I started my 2000 Suzuki gsxr 750 2 days ago and started fine i got off work today went to start it and didn't start the bike turns over but doesn't start any solutions?

    First two checks are:
    1. Does it have fuel? Set petcock to 'PRI', wait 30 seconds, choke as required and see if it starts;
    2. You can have enough battery to turn the engine and not enough to fire a hot spark. Test the battery, needs to be above 12V.

    I have an 05 with the same problem. Sounds like your STVA went out. Do you still have your butterflies wired open? I know how to repair the stva fixed mine, and saved hundreds....if your still on this post email me so we can get our bikes fixed. also check your kick stand sensor! This can malfunction and cause same stalling problems.

    1991 gsxr 750 died while riding. won't crank over, no spark (it will crank over if you jump the solinoid) headlights and blinkers don't work, the neutral and oil lights come on and the relays click, no...

    If it died while riding, this could be a broken wire, harness plug come loose, of faulty ignition switch, you will need to use a test light to check where the power is getting to.
    The ignition switches switch a couple of different contacts when you turn the key, which could explain why the neutral lights come on and nothing else.

    How many quarts of oil does a 94 gsxr 750 call for

    Usually they take 3 1/3 qts. Just add 3 and watch till it full with the last bit of oil. Then start the bike and let idle for 5 seconds to fill the oil filter. Let it sit for a couple minutes and recheck the oil level and add more if needed.

    01 gsxr that fl code came on and oil light is on.

    It is not safe to drive with the oil light on, you risk major engine damage. It means low oil pressure. The FI light means a fault with the fuel injection system. You will need diagnostic equipment connected to the bike to read the fault code(s). Most likely this will be at a shop.

    Died while going down the road

    If you get power to the injectors it's not the ECU.Did you check for spark on the spark plugs when you renewed them?Disconnect the fuel,take them out,plug them on their cap, ground their body on the engine and crank it to see that every one is working properly.Also check the kill switch for proper "on-off" function and the kick stand's switch too.

    Bike shuts off???

    if when your bike gets to riding temp. and, you turn it off; and, then restart... if the crank speed is slow replace your battery if your crank speed is normal replace your ignition module (batteries can be recharged and, measure 12 volts and, still be weak)
    Amps can fall off (amps are what give the battery muscle to spin your starter ) ignition modules can be affected by heat and fail to maintain spark

    Bike shut off when riding.

    Hi and welcome to FixYa,

    Your description indicates an electrical malfunction. Offhand, the jump start and charging is significant. This points to the bike's battery not charging. Suspects would be:
    • voltage regulator (most likely);
    • connectors to voltage regulator (likely). Check/clean corrosion/burnt marks;
    • stator and/or the 3 wires coming from it (least likely).
    Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
