Question about 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6

1 Answer

I have a 2007 yzf600 with 200 miles on it, from day one it was hard to start, i took it to the dealer and was advised that the e85 in the gas clog up the jets and that is why it does not start, $700 later the bike worked for a few weeks and then same problem all over again. a few weeks later i was able to get it started and the bike overheated in fifteen minutes. anybody having this problem or a solution. i was told to add lucas gas stabiizer after the first time i took it to the dealer. that also did not work.

Lucas products are all snake oil, they do nothing. Take it back to the shop and ask that they honor the warranty they provided when they took your $700 the first time. For $700 you could put a new motor in it.

DickCanFixIt is right if the bike service was done recently. If done a year ago the dealer is pretty much off the hook. $700 is ridiculous for what they did. Just get a spray can of starting fluid and give a shot into the air cleaner. Add some fuel injector cleaner into the gas and ride through a few tanks of premium gas. After awhile you won't need the starter fluid. By the way, if you only ride the bike 100 miles a year you may want to sell it. As you have seen, they can be a money pit under some circumstances.

2007 Toyota Hybrid Could it be a clogged fuel filter or should i take to dealer..? SRF (Pine Island Fla.)

There is no external fuel filter on this model, it's inside the tank mounted to the fuel pump, I think you should follow the mechanics advise and have the dealer look at it with all those codes in the computer, it may have gotten water in it.

Ever since I started using E-85 gas in my 2007 chevy avalanche, my vechile now takes around 3 seconds to start, rather then starting right away. I was told that it may be related to the fuel filter or the...

are you still using e85?? if so stop the higher alcohol content can cause some cold weather starting issues. I would recommend running regular fuel and not using e85.I know your vehicle is a flex fuel vehicle and can run it,but the fuel is ****!!!!! for one the shelf life is very short and most of this sets in the storage tanks a good while since most people dont run it.also the mileage is decreased so much if you do the math you will find it is probably cheaper to run regular gas. if your running regular gas now and still having problems have fuel pressure checked try cycling the key on and off a couple times and see if it starts quicker this may show signs of a pump aloowing fuel to leak out of lines and having to prime up before getting to cylinders.this is my opinion of the e85 fuel but i believe you will find 99% of technicians will back me up on this.thanks for using fixya

I have a hard time starting my 04 Santa Fe after i fill up

it was running then you removed the gas cap to fill ( extremely dangerous practice with car running)
that indicates that there is a problem with the EVAP system.
run the fault codes ( what the dealers should have done first ) and check for the EVAP codes , purge vent or solenoid problems

Remove the fuel filter and empty it into a glass jar...If you see any water at the bottom, likely there is far more in the tank (there is at least a gallon or more below the fuel pickup) If there's water in there tank needs to be drained and cleaned.

Rough running 86 4runner after e85 put in!

very likely the fuel injectors are damaged, replace them, the fuel pressure regulator and all rubber fuel lines, also pull the gas tank and replace the short rubber hose at the electric fuel pump, I know this is expensive but even a few miles of running would have wrecked havoc on the rubber components, that rubber debris will flow through the fuel system and will plug the injector's, E85 melts it and skin for that matter.
