When you say you've "played with the idle screw", do you mean the idle MIXTURE screw, or the idle SPEED screw?

Also, it COULD be the throttle cable.
At idle, is there a LITTLE slack in the cable, so it's not pulling on the slide/butterfly crank?
Or, it could be cable routing, hanging up on something.
Finally, has the cable ever been lubed?

SOURCE: 1991 CR 500 (reving to high on idle high serges)

take some wd 40 & spray around the carb boot while running to see if the idle drops for a few seconds. sounds like you have an intake side air leak causing a lean condition making the motor rev high.

SOURCE: idleing problems(2001 suzuki drz 250)

Remove the carb , dissemble it and clean the varnish out. After so long in storage I am surprised it runs at all. Remove the petcock, ( gas valve ),water trap and clean it out. Next let one cup of gas flow into a container. Any water or rust in the bottom of the container? If any rust was in the water trap or the container then purchase an inline fuel filter to eliminate the rust getting into the carb.

If cleaning the carb yourself does not do the trick then take it to the dealer and have them clean it and install a carb kit. This should get you back on the road.

Why after 2 months of sitting and a new battery is my choke stuck bike wont idel down

Many bikes have CV (constant velocity) carbs, and so have an enriching valve and not really a choke. The enricher just adds more fuel to the mixture.
The high idle could be a vacuum leak at the base of the carburetor. You can check for a leak with a can of carburetor cleaner.
Start the bike up and spray a short burst of the cleaner at the base of the carburetor if you get a change in RPM or if it stalls that's the problem.

Macculloch 14'' (350)chain saw,and cannot get my saw to fire up there are three adjusting screws marked T L H how many turns back for each screw from the closed position to enable a rough setting to fire...

t is your throttle stop
l is your low speed jet for fine tuning low rpm.s and idel itself.
h is high speed jet.

basic settings for the L and H jets are one turn out / open

throttle stop will vary but once you have it ideling you can tune that one while you are holding the trottle then go back to the L jet till u got it running sweet. then re adjust throttle stop if necessary. now move on to high speed jet.

Does the pilot screw alter the air intake on the Carburetor of a gsxr 750 slingshot 1988 model

Certainly you best adjust these screws with a vacume gauge set connected and set them all the same as the gauges dictate as the number of turns out is just where you start. The sync needs to be set first with the idel turned up too high when it's right turn the isel back down and check again as the idel is low nows the time to correct differences with the idel mixture screws. As the idel mixture is always on they effect the total mixture at all enf=gine speeds but lesser so at high speeds only noticeable at the gas pump carefully cheaking

Snowmobile problem

hi jay,,if u r having to use the choke to keep it go ideling , then either u the idel jet is blocked and will give u fuel starvation ,so usin the choke the main jet has to force fuel in 2 the float chambers,, at the bottom of the carb,, so firstly remove bottoms of carbs and one jet at time take the needle jet and main out , u will see little holes on the needle jet.or needle guide jet if u like, poke a pin in the holes ,and blow threw till u see light threw them, give every thing in the bottom carb a clean while u r there, then replace that jet and everything else ,,then move to the next carb and repeat the process,,put carbs back on the bike, then air boxmake sure theres no air leaks between air box and carbs ,, try that matey,, hope it helped,,
