Question about 1998 kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja

1 Answer

1998 kawi zx6r power loss

Bike has about 40k kms on it
k, so i was going up an easy hill when i started to lose power/revs.
So much so that the bike stalled. it will idle perfectly, as if nothing is wrong, but as soon as i give it any throttle it just dies. If anybody knows anything about this advice would be great.

My 1998 Mitzubishi Lancer 1.5lt has a loss of power mainly going up hills, I have replaced to spark plugs and the HT leads seam to be ok,Could it be the coil?or can someone suggest other probabilitys.

First thing I would check is that all of the plugs are still tight. This is a common problem of them coming loose without the proper torque.

My 1998 yz 125 loses power in first and second then bogs and cuts out? what should i do?

Hi, Gareth and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely drained or faulty battery.
2. Faulty regulator/rectifier or high output coil.
3. Faulty power valve, solenoid or installation.
4. Clogged air filter or exhaust.
5. Cracked or incorrect float level.
6. Float needle is not seating.
7. Faulty reed valve.

1998 XV Virago 125 doesnt like the rain.

Ok on a dry day take a spray bottle with water in it and spray different areas on the bike like the plug ends - coils- fuse box- handel bar switches- Any where there is a connection. Even dehind the head light where the wires go in. You are haveing a moisture problem getting in and shorting the egishion system.

Louder/deeper noise from engine/exhaust and a loss of power.

Check the exhaust. Sometimes the muffler will partially collapse internally, (louder noise). This restriction in the flow of exhaust gases is commonly called "back pressure". The back pressure will cause a lack of power and loss of higher revs.

Disconnect the exhaust system and ride around the block without a muffler. It will tick off mom and dad but the kids will love it. If the problem instantly disappears then you can go find a new set of pipes.

Please rate this solution as "FixYa" ( if it works ). Thanks!

Power Loss at around 3000 rpm

are the carbs balanced correctly and are you sure that all of the jets are clean. if not try it, it might work. sluggish throttle response is normally to do with the carbs.
