Mod.Hp980PT, red and top green light flash, no heat

This is a very common feature on these types of simple, high-volume, low-cost home appliances known as a safety fault. This fault will temporarily (or permanently) disable the appliance and happens for several reasons: (1) an over-temp (high heat) occurrence, (2) an over-power (power surge) occurrence, (3) an under-power (power outage or trickle power) occurrence, (4) an over-time occurrence (auto-off fails), (5) a short-circuit occurrence (exposed/crossed/frayed wires, etc.). Fortunately, it uses a digital "fuse" system and can be reset by the user. However, there is no universal reset process on SoftHeat products so you just have to play with it until you figure it out (customer service dept is no help). Mine is a Kaz SoftHeat HP980PT, with a red power indicator/power-off button and 4 green heat setting buttons. Mine faulted after a heavy storm caused multiple power outages and power surges in my neighborhood. The green light on the highest heat setting button was flashing on mine. Here's how I fixed it: (1) unplugged both ends of power cord and straightened out the cord, then plugged back in to the heating pad end. (2) While holding down the flashing light button, I plugged back in to the wall outlet. (3) While still holding down the flashing light button, pressed and held down the red power-off button, then while still holding down the red power button, I released the flashing light button, followed by releasing the power-off button. This stopped the flashing green light and caused the red power indicator light to stay on (steady-on). It works fine now. Note: Some models have an actual hard fuse in addition to the digital fault feature or possibly only a simple fuse (without the digital fault system). These fuses can the found at many retail stores and then very easily replaced. I hope this helps some of you!!!

Just changed the brake PADS on ALL four wheels on my 2005 durango adventurer hemi, now the brake light on the dash is flashing, why?

Did you reseat the pads and calipers by pressing the brake pedal several times after completing the job?

Have you driven it at all? Do the brakes seem to be working properly other than the light?

The abs and emergency brake light come on periodically

This usually means its time to get your brakes changed. It also happens when your running low on brake fluid. It might not be low enough to stay on, but when the road gets rough the fluid is moving around enough to trigger your light. Also make sure your E brake is all the off. It might be close enough to the switch that vibration is causing it to make contact flashing your light. If you experience this during heavy braking then your running low on both fluid and maybe even pads.

Red light comes on but the shuts off?

Mine did that and it really pised me of, sony told me to turn the power switch onthe back of the console on, when the stand by light comes on to push and hold the on button for at least 3 seconds until you hear a second set of beeps. This however didn`t work so I sent it back to Sony Australia and got it fixed up no worries.

Skweeking brakes

Several possible causes:
  1. Did you use copper-based brake grease on the brake pins and the back of the pads?
  2. Did you clean all the old gunk off the brake pins and after doing so, where they deeply grooved? If so, you must replace them.
  3. Wrong brake pads. Some pad manufacturers list a patricular pad as being OK for a vehicle. They fit OK but the pad characteristics are wrong and they squeal like crazy or wear out in no time or give lousy raking performance etc.
  4. If the pads you removed had anti-squeal shims on the back of them did the new ones? They almost certainly should have. IIRC, they are held to the pads by some double-sided adhesive tape.
  5. If you get squeak-silence-squeak-silence... at low speed (i.e. just before coming to a halt) then the disk(s) is/are distorted. They will have to be replaced. You must not machine the discs on these brakes - there is no thickness available to do that. If you do tthey may well collapse under the heavy braking of an emergency stop with very unfortunate consequences!
  6. As someone said, the disc may be badly worn and/or grooved -check and replace if necessary.
  7. You may have a stone or piece of grit stuck between a pad and a disc. If so & it's worn a groove in the disc, you will need to replace both disc and pad.
  8. Make sure you torqued any brake bolts correctly and that you put thread sealant on them. Failure to do so can lead to them loosening in normal use. The brakes may squeak for a while if this happens but then things can get much worse...

To many front rotor changes

make sure the caplipers are doing their job properly. if the calipers are not functioning properly that will cause uneven wear as well as a dragging, as in the pads are not coming off of the rotor and therefore rubbing while you're driving. also, check to see that you are getting a pad that will wear without so much rotor wear. they make pads that will absorb more wear so that you don't have to replace the rotors every time you have your brakes done. And if that doesn't work... no joke, change your braking habits. unfortunatly, to many people wait till they're at the stop sign or red light to apply the brakes instead of preparing for the known. my brakes have been on my truck (HEAVY) for 50,000 miles (hard use) and have only begun to squeak in the last 100 miles. Changed my brakes completely and my braking habits. good luck

Hi TbearFTW,

Try the Sabbath mode feature. It may realease the oven to cook for longer. Press the Clock button for more than 5 seconds. I think that is what you do to get the Sabbath mode canceled or set.
