3 Pints is average but you can adjust it to your riding style and weight. Stock oil height is around 130mm from top but you could set it around the 110 to 100 range for increased bottoming if you do a lot of big jumps ect.. 5w oil is the usual weight but fork oil goes up to 20w.

03 yzf 250f how to change oil

This engine holds one quart of standard Yamaha YZ 250 engine oil. The oil filter is located on the rear of the crankcase behind the suspension spring. The oil filter looks like a small metal can that is screwed into the top rear of the crankcase. On the bottom of the crankcase is the plug that will need to be removed to drain the oil from the crankcase. Anyone who owns this model dirt bike can complete this job in about 10 minutes.

Ho do you change the fork seals on a 97 yz250 ?

It's not that easy. You really need a manual to assist. Also, the fork oil level is specific, and you need to measure it by cc's or by millimeters, according to the specs.
Also...the seals need to be installed with a drive that's made for your fork size.
I recommend a good manual, as the factory one is the best.
Adding up cost of tools also may warrant taking it to a professional.

Fork oil level

Forks can get pretty complicated. If they have been worked on it is not just re-filling with oil to a certain level. That would be the case if the seals leak a bit and all you are doing is adding oil to replace what has gotten past the seals. I am giving you a site where you can download a free factory service manual. Everything on servicing the forks and the rest of the bike is in the manual. There is a 2003 manual on the site. Your 2004 forks are the same as the 2003. All other service procedures are also the same. Go to this site and you can download a free PDF service manual. The site may take up to 20 seconds to load the complete list of manuals. Please rate my answer. Thanks!
