Question about 1978 Honda CX 500 A

1 Answer

Wont start sounds like it's getting no spark and starter makes noise.

When I go to try and start it, it sounds like there is something wrong like the plugs aren't getting enough spark or gas. The carbs are clean had them taken apart @ the shop and cleaned and just replaced the starter because it was making noise but it still makes noise. I have been troubleshooting this for the last 3 weeks it's my only ride and I need it.PLEASE HELP

Check the compression and timeing it is easy that the during the lay down the coiles and resistor could have shifted just a little and through off the timeing.

Having probems starting my car, it makes a clicking noise but don't start. What could be wrong with it?.

Usually starting noise is the starter solenoid kicking back and forth trying to engage flywheel and is caused by lack of voltage from battery starter needs to have at least 10 volts while trying to start supplied from battery. That being said something is draining power from your battery and it took about a week to drain it down. hope this helps

Ride on mower makes buzzing sound in engine but wont start

check all wire connections to the battery and the starter and check the battery for being a good charge. the buzz sound is from not enough voltage or current getting to the starter.

Car won't start after replacing starter

Is the sound coming through the speakers? It sounds like a fuse problem. The spark might have shorted something out

Car would not start so i replaced starter motor.still wont start

Check power levels and then try and jump it. If nothing you may have a short thats some that is hard to trace back check all point of contact all the way to spark plugs make sure you are getting firer to the plugs. You may have to take it in. Now make sure the new starter is in line properly

When i try to start the car it makes a funny sound and wont start it sounds like something is not catching

Good indication of a bad starter. Is it just clicking or is it a grinding ugly noise?. The second is definately the starter.

Car stopped while being driven. wont start now. just make a clicking sound when you try to start. looked underneath, there is a whole about 1 1/2 inches in diameter which appears to be broken from a cover...

sounds like your diff has exploded in your gearbox there for not allowing the starter to turn the flywheel id advise you to take it to your local garage and get them to look but sounds very serious.

Car wont start, no clicks no sound

make sure you have power getting to your starter when you crank. check the small nut on the starter. should have 12 v or very close to it. this will tell you if your getting power to the starter or if somethign before the starter and something maybe with your anti theft system or not. its hard to say online cause of that anti theft. doest the light flash at all? the anti theft light?

if your getting power to the starter when you crank make sure your getting good power to the starter by turning on the head lights and see if they dim. a good starter will cause the headlites to dim when attempting to start. if nothing dims check connections. or assume bad starter motor. make sure your also getting power to the main starter stud as well.

good luck
