You need to strip the top end down, give it a decent de-coke,get All the black burnt deposits off from the internal walls.remove the power valve system and do the same, when you put it back together use a light lube Just to make sure the valve has full un-restricted movement . There is no adjustment ,only set up. I think you will find this will solve the problem.

SOURCE: how do i ajust my suzuki rm 80 carruetar

  • First locate the idle screw on bottom of carberator, It might be under a little 1/4" brass plug.
  • You will need to drill out plug to get to adjustment for smooth idle or correct mixture adjust.
  • Recommend pulling carb off of bike for this procedure
  • You should adjust idle jet first to about 2 1/2 turns out roughly then turn it in or out from there for highest rpm! Once that is done adjust idle speed with manual adjustment on left side of bike for smooth idle and about 900 rpms or so.
  • Basicly that is all there is too it. Unless you are installing a jet kit or something like that.
Good luck and happy riding... HDTV GURU JAY

Can I fit a SUZUKI RM 250 Engine into a 2000 RM 125 frame?

Hi, Anthony sounds like something I would try when I was a kid but after careful deliberation 4 out 5 Suzuki Gods give this one a thumbs down, but just to be on the safe side you should give your local dealer's parts/service department a call to confirm it's just not worth the time trouble and expense you would be better off getting a used 250 bike. Both the 1995 and the 2003 RM250's have 5 speed transmissions. You will have to split the cases to see why the machine will not shift into fifth gear. You probably have a bent shift fork, an nick in the shift drum, or a damaged gear interlocking pins.

My 1989 rm 250 has just had a rebuild and is running fine but it wont go into the band

If you are referring to the power band, this is when your reed valves open.Check for cracked or damaged reeds. You need to remove carb and reeds are between carb and cylender.Check also the rubber boot that carb attaches to for cracks.this will cause intake air leak and cause reeds to not open properly.

What is the spec for oil in the front forks on a 2004 suzuki rm 250

If you have the stock valving, I would run 2.5w Motorex in the damper to compensate for the stiff feel stock, and thicker oil in the spring chamber such as Mobil1 5w20 to allow the oil lock ring to do its job on bottom-outs. I'm at 375ml in the spring chamber and I weight 155lb.
