Question about 2002 Harley Davidson FXDXT Dyna Super Glide T-sport

1 Answer

Transmission leaking I recently overfilled my tranny on my 01 fxdx dyna twin cam, I stupidly put a little over a quart in it! Anyway when I took it out ,I had a huge puddle under my bike.I got it on my lift and it looks like the leak is behind the primary just behind the front sprocket? Any help would be great! Thank you Darren.

Where do I put the oil in after replacing the Primary Gasket?

If you indeed have a Super Glide or any other Big Twin, you remove the derby cover from the rear end of the primary cover, the round plate held on by five small bolts. Stand the bike up straight and fill the primary with oil until it comes up to the bottom of the clutch drum. Do not overfill. It should take a little over a quart.

Good Luck

Fluid capasities in a 2002 dyna twin cam. oil, trans, primary?

Engine oil - 3 qts
Primary oil - 34-42 oz.
transmission - 20-24 ounces.

The engine oil and the transmission oil both have dipsticks. Maintain the oil levels according to the dipstick indications. Each dipstick has two marks. The top mark represents "FULL HOT" while the lower mark represents "FULL COLD" . Check the engine oil with the bike on the side stand. Check the transmission oil with the bike standing straight up.

On the primary, check or add oil with the bike standing straight up. Do not overfill. The oil level should be no higher than the lowest edge of the clutch spring. If you put too much oil in the primary, the clutch will drag making it impossible to find neutral with the engine running.

Good Luck

1996 Ford Winstar w/ recent tranny flush

well, i used to work at a transmission repair shop, and it is true that you're supposed to overfill these transmissions, but only by ONE quart. 4 quarts would certainly cause a big problem if thats what they did. the speedometer issue however is related only to the vehicle speed sensor which is a common problem on this transmission. i would STRONGLY recommend you bring it to a transmission repair shop (obviously a different one than before) becuase this sensor gets corroded and can be just awful to replace.

also, with your speed sensor not working, your transmission will go into limp mode and will have at most two gears. this is normal. as for the fluid leakage, it could be related to them over-overfilling the transmission and the fluid coming out the vent.

Where do you add the transmission oil to a 2004 Harley Davidson Super Glide

Right side just rear of seat down between pipes is small oval cover, chrome? This is end of tranny, used to be kicker cover.Filler cap used to be in top rear of this cover.Large screw cap with large slot for removel tool, channel locks will work.Need funnel pour oil little at a time.Keep checking it's full when you get oil on little finger tip.Put tip in just past feeling threads.Remember bike leans away from filler. You can block up kick stand to level it up some,be careful. If cap isn't on cover check top of tranny just in from top of cover it will be large screw and flush with top.Good luck

00' Kia Sephia LS not shifting past 1st gear

first you need to buy transmission fluid new filter and new gasket.you need 11.4 pints of transmision fluid.raise front of vechicle.set parking brake.block both back wheels.besure support vechicle weight with jack stands. get a drain pan.if your transmission pan dont have a drain plug.loosen rear pan bolts a few turns.remove the front and side transmission pan bolts. let fluid drain.remove tranny pan. then clean old gasket material from transmission and pan carefully.dont scratch or damage surface.clean old tranny bolts using brake cleaner or buy new tranny bolts.you have to put a tiny film of rtv silicone on tranny bolts so they wont leak.carefully remove old tranny filter and put on new filter.clean all grease grim away from tranny pan it should be **** and span because.you might need a little gasket adhesive to hold gasket in place while putting pan back on transmission.to line up bolt holes.loosely put all bolts in you have to move pan a little to get holes line up.when all is finish put tranny fluid back in.besure you put 11.4 pints back in that about 6.5 quarts. make sure tranny fluid level is right before driving vechicle.l

94 SL1 , wont accelerate with used tranny put in recently

Check Fluid level first. If that's O.k check to see if it's the correct trans.Physically the SOHC & DOHC Trans Look The Same But they are geared different. If you put a twin cam trans into a single cam car or visversa it will not shift into 2nd 3rd or 4th.MP6 For SOHC MP7 For Twin Cam.Also 93,94 trans for 93,94 olny 95-02 swap.Good Luck Hope This helps
