Question about 1991 Yamaha FZR 600

1 Answer

1991 Fzr 600; been sitting for two weeks, it will crank, but wont fire

I've been repainting my 1991 FZR 600 and i never started it for about 2 weeks i put all the farings back on right, but when i went to go start it i turned the key and pushed the run button by the throttle and it made this buzzing sound and after that stopped after 5 seconds i pressed the run button, it would crank over fine but it had trouble firing, i finally got it to run after a few times, and i let it idle at 3500 rpm with choke for a few moments but when i brought it back down without choke it didnt idle it just died on me, then when i went to try to run it again there wasnt any buzzing sound that happened before. it would crank over fine it just wouldnt fire. and eventually the battery was almost to dead from me trying to start it, then when i recharged the battery it would crank but still no fire

CANT GET MY FZR TO FIRE CHECKED EVERY THING THE BOOK SAYS TO DO BUT NO HIT

check for fuel to the carbs, pull plugs and check for spark in the plugs while cranking over. if no fuel check the fuel shutoff, if no spark, check for +12v at the coils and also the c.d.i. box.

1991 fzr 600 no spark

you dont need your clutch to start the bike in neutral, the only wire goin near your clutch should be for your horn. the clutch is cable activated on the fzr, if you have no spark check your basics, fuse's relays and such. on the fzr there is two sets of fuses the four under your seat and then relays and one single fuse under the back plastic (left hand side if sitting on the bike). then the next easiest would be to check your wire's they need tune up's just like cars. other than that you are basically left with the digital ignitor or your coils, if you have power goin to your coils what about after them ??? Also the kickstand safety is only when the bike is put into gear it will shut off the bike if stand is down.
