2002 mercury 125 outboard will not run on all 4 cylinders

fuel injected model , have the fault codes read
carby models have the entire fuel system cleaned out and all rubber hoses, pump diaphragm replaced as the hoses break down internally and put rubbish in the pump and carby's
do not use e-mix fuels as the ethanol absorbs moisture and that corrodes aluminium bits , rusts fuel tanks and breaks down the rubber components

2004 40hp mercury 4 stroke

pull the carby and clean out all of the jets
the problem most likely is not bad fuel but failing rubber components that is leaving bits of rubber in the carby and pump valves
the rubber in the hoses, primer bulb, pump diaphragm breaks down internally and lodges small particles in the filter and carby and with the age of the motor ( 12 years) now would be a good time to replace all of the rubber
unless you are familiar with the motor and carby I suggest from a safety point of view that you have the carby and work done at a service center for the make of outboard

1963 Ford Falcon runs fine, when u stop then start off it dies, idles fine, changed from gas cap to intake new carb any thoughts.

possible problem in the "new" carby with the accelerator pump not working
look down the throat of the carby and work the accelerator (engine stopped)
if you do not see a squirt of fuel, work on the carby

Engine is not starting very well. After much cranking and almost starting, it runs, just. If throttle is moved up or down it stalls. What else can I do ?

not enough detail as to make and model but if it is a carby engine then the main jets and idler jets are blocked
the rubber components from the tank to carby break down internally and small pieces of rubber get to the carby
water and corrosion are also other problems associated with this fault
all out boards exhaust out the prop and by running the engine in a drum , then the oil in the drum is the oil and smoke collected by the water in the drum
While this is an excellent way of running a motor , remember that the oil mixture is being recirculated through the water pump in the leg and that will cause problems if you run the engine then leave it unused for a period of time
The rubber of the pump impeller will crack and fail when again used
Take it to a service center and get a proper diagnosis done and a quote

1989 Evinrude 15 hp E15RCEC Outboard Motor starts but won't stay running. what could be the problem Tried to clean carburetor, didn't work.

depending on how often you used the engine
problems include :-
dirt ,corrosion, rubber bits in the carby---fix is to have the carby professionally cleaned and overhauled
rubber from the fuel hoses disintergrating and causing problems in the carby, the pump valves
the rubber diaphragm in the pump is failing and not producing enough fuel to keep the motor running
the vent on the cap of the fuel tank is still closed creating a vacuum in the fuel system
it would be a good idea to replace all rubber hoses from the tank to the carby, overhaul the fuel pump, and have the carby professionally cleaned and overhauled
if you pull off any rubber hose and get a black stain on your hand ,that is rubber failing.

Hey iv got as GV650 Aquila it wont start the motor turns over no problem but wont Start any suggestions?

check for spark plugs and try to push start button at the same time while the fuel pump motor refreshes. there is also a fuel filter through the fuel is pumped to the jets. if this filter is jammed by dirt particles then also you can experience the same problem.

I have a 20 hp mecury jet outboard motor that runs fine out of water but as soon as you put it in the water it'll run for a few seconds and then die and will not run again. It will soind like it&#

the rubber components of the fuel system from the tank, primer bulb hoses , fuel pump all deteriorate internally and the small rubber failings get to the carby and block all of the run circuits
experience says take it to a mercury service center and have the carby/s professionally overhauled as doing ti at home generally misses the important bits
never use e-mix fuels as the ethanol attracts water and the combination rots metal bits and hoses

1982 gmc pickup I replaced the mechanical fuel pump and still am not getting fuel up to the carb and it will not start

You most likely have an air lock in the fuel line or fuel pump.
To start the engine and hopefully get the fuel to the carby, pour a little fuel down the carby and then start the engine. You may need to do this several times until you get the engine running.

I have a Baldor 6000W generator with a gx340 11hp engine. I have drained the tank and carb and put new gas and sea foam in it. Also I have replaced the spark plug and fuel filter. The engine will...

It sounds like the engine is not getting enough fuel for it to run. First check that you have the fuel tap in the on position. If the fuel tap is on then the carby might be blocked or the needle & seat are not working properly. Turn the fuel tap off. Then take the fuel bowl off. You will then see a plastic float, turn fuel tap on. Fuel then should be flowing from carby. Push the float up and this should stop the fuel from running. Do this a couple of times to ensure that it is working correctly. If all is good after that then turn fuel tap off. Put fuel bowl back on, turn fuel tap on and test. If no luck, turn fuel tap off. Then you will need to take the carby off the motor and clean it using carby cleaner. Be sure to spray cleaner in all holes of carby and blow out carefully with air compressor. Put carby back onto motor and turn fuel tap on and test.
