Duke 2 loss of power when engine under load

KTM Duke 2, loss of power when engine under load, will not rev above 4000, with no load will rev higher but fades- any ideas

Is the bike at stock condition?
Check the carb and the charging system.
You should measure 13,5-14V at your battery in 3000rpm with your high beams on.

The ignition button wont work


Hi, Ryan before testing any electrical component in the Starter Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, especially "AGM" batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid or starter circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
14. Check for engine trouble codes.

The check engine light came on my KTM duke 125 after I was driving it in the rain what should I do?


Hi, Peleg it should be noted that the reasons your check engine light constant or flashing, will or will not start, turns over or not conditions varies from the year, make, and model and you should always refer to your owners/service manual for proper diagnostic procedures. It should also be noted that any type of prior work or event IE: adding accessories, electrical curiosity/adventures, laying bike down/crashes, rainstorms/bike washings just before EFI light issues started can be significant hints/aids into tracking down the gremlin, also carry the appropriate jumper wire to access fault codes to reduce the risk of being stranded or towed, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty Fuel Pump, fuse or system relay switch.
2. Battery starting to fail due to old age/damage, perform a load test.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty switches/sensors: run/off, ignition, clutch lever, neutral, side stand, tip over, fuel, and or their connections.
5. Broken wire or worn insulation exposing wire to a ground situation especially inside wire harness at tight bends around fairing brackets, under dash panels, under fuel tanks over cylinder heads etc. Many harnesses are open on the ends that will allow water to enter and accumulate at v-bends.
6. Check for generated fault codes.
Dielectric grease and contact cleaner are your best friends for wire/cable/harness connectors, look for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.

Why the rpm dose not go higher than 4000 rpm


The vehicle has a built in no load engine REV limiter to prevent damage to the engine from drivers who insist on "gunning the engine".

2.4l has gas in oil and no power


check the fuel pressure regulator and the map sensor vacuum hoses. as for the not revving above 4000 rpm is what the computer limits the engine to with no load on it, like in park or neutral.

Your problem is coming from the waterpump seal. When the seal goes bad it lets oil from the crankcase into the waterpump and vise versa. The only other problem it could be is the head gasket but you would feel a loss of power.

My 2001 monte carlo misses out, no engine lite is on.


The rev limiter won't allow it to rev above 4000 in park. Will it go above 4000 on the road. Does it miss at ldle or under a load.
