Idle is too low?
look at the tachometer. What RPM is it? 800 ok, 300 bad.
the silly switch comes on at 3 to 5psi, (bad bad horror that)
if the light comes on, the oil pressure is horribly low.
running 5w oil?
low rpm, or wrong oil., or bad news.

if rpm too low, fix that first.
all cars.

Replace clutch

big job and not always necessary
as you couldn't be bothered to give any symptoms for the clutch problem then I will guess at a few and you can make your decision from them
clutch problems fall into the following categories"-
slipping
shudder on engagement
not allowing gear selection with out grating gears
noise that is present when the pedal is pressed or goes when pressed
1-- slipping--can be from the following areas
a--clutch cable failure that is jamming and not allowing engagement
b-- hydraulic clutch master cylinder compensating port blocked and not allowing clutch engagement
c--- oil on the clutch plate linings
a and b are external and require new items which ever you have
c is a box out job and is reasonably rare
2---shudder can be from
a-- broken engine mounts,
b bad drive line joints and
c----oil/grease on the clutch plate
again a and b are external but c will require box out
3--- not allowing engagement with out grating
a-- no clutch fluid in the reservoir
b---clutch cable broken
c-- seized spigot bearing in the crankshaft for the input shaft of the gear box
again a and b are external but c is box out
4--- is a throw out bearing failing and is a box out for replacement
some makes of vehicles have the clutch slave cylinder inside the bell housing as an integral part of the throw out bearing so that will also be box out
Now you have to decide if the box has to come out for a clutch replacement or the cheaper parts to be replaced first

At oil heat light coming on and causing 4 wheel drive to engage

in subarus all wheel drive is working at all the time ,and there is no oil temp. signal for engine oil, there is only oil pressure sensor. There is one for your rear differential oil ,check if your oil was ever changed ,on the back of differential there is a oil release screw and above it you will find sensor with cable attached to it ,check your oil level ,or replace it with 90w75 synthetic oil ,clean the magnet attached to oil plug ,it also might be oil temp sensor that is bad

No electrical power to AC Compressor. The switch light comes on in car when AC power button is turned on.

  1. Check if air blows with the fan setting turned to high.
  2. Check that the radiator cooling fan engages when the A/C button is pressed.
  3. Locate the compressor.
  4. Turn on the A/C.
  5. Check if the compressor's clutch has been engaged.
  6. If the clutch engages, the fault is elsewhere.
  7. If the clutch does not engage, check for power to the clutch.
These steps might help find the problem.

93 Nissan altima, high pitched whirring noise upon starting the vehicle. Continues when clutch engaged and driving. Just replaced a part which when you press the clutch down it connects to a cylinder...

hi,,

sounds like you had your clutch slave replaced. also I see that you said it doesnt make noise when you push the clutch to the floor, so usually thats the throw out bearing, its inside the transmission. the transmission has to come apart from the engine. the check engine light could be either from the transmission getting a fault, or the oil inside the cap is causing an electrical issue. so you need a throw out bearing and a new distributor. stanzas good for a couple more trips and thats it.

Why does the oil engine light come on when i engage the clutch ?

Hi!

When a car is in gear with the Gas pedal pushed down, the engine RPM is high so the oil pressure is high too that means the Sending unit is detecting high pressure. But when you engage the clutch that means the gas pedal is released so the RPM drops and the pressure drops down too. So all i can say is that you might have a bad oil pump that needs always high RPM to keep the oil pressure normal.

Good luck

Clutch not engaging on 2000 cougar

The master cylinder or the slave cylinder have failed. I would check for a clear oil looking leak coming from either the firewall/above the clutch pedal or under the transmission. Either way you would need to replace the master or slave cylinder. Hope this helps!

Where is the low freon switch in a 72 cadillac

First check to see if clutch will engage. Disconnect the plug on the accumulator and place a wire across connectors. This will engage the compressor. If compressor comes on, then what will need to be done is:
first be sure that all the connections and fittings are tight.
second replace the high and low side valves.
third have the system vacuumed.
fourth and oil and freon.

You should have a good working ac.

How do I adjust the clutch? Clutch engages when

A high clutch pedal is good.
There should only be about a half inch of pedal freeplay, before you start to feel resistance.
So the clutch should not engage until it is almost fully released, near the top.
The makes shifting the easiest.

If the shifting is difficult when cold, then put the transmission in neutral and let the clutch out when you warm up the engine.
That will warm up the transmission oil.

Of course you could also check the transmission oil level and change it.
But your question makes me believe you may need more experience on a stick shift. Make sure you do the H pattern carefully, and do not get lazy and turn it into an X pattern.

Knocking when engine gets hot and car stopped

The fan clutch can make a knocking noise when it tries to engage. At idle it will have a rhythm to it when it tries to engage. You will have an over heating condition and the air conditioning may not work properly.

The fix is to replace the fan clutch and reprogram the engine control module.
