Starting The Bike On A Cold Morning

I have A 1988 FZR 250 2kr Genesis.... EVERY morning i CANNOT start her. She refuses to kick over! while im starting it the battery also goes flat!!! is there a way to warm the bike up before i start her in the mornings? Like maybe a houshold heater??? put the heater near the engine to warm her up, will that work?

Please help? Im just about to smash this bike as im fed up of being late for work in the mornings!!

The engine gets colder due to cold nights, or keeping the bike standing for long time. When you start the bike after few hours, the engine takes time to get hot. That's why the bike won't start right on the first kick. However, you can try with the back-to-back kicks as well. Maybe then your bike gets started.

The heater will not work.Do you pull the choke cable? Is your carb assemblies cleaned and adjusted properly?I assume that your fuel pump works fine.

Fzr 600 wont start

What is the condition and age of the battery? I would start with charging it and checking for holding the charge first if unsure. Then check for other suspects like starter relay/solenoid or starter itself.

Problem with my fzr after first ride in the morning iit wants to die wen taking off an most of the time it will then start it an it wont rev if let throttle go it will die

I'll tell you why. It is cold natured. I have a 89' Virago, and it doesn't like going anywhere till' it is warmed up. I usually just set the choke up a bit for about 5 minutes, and then hop on and go.

Starting The Bike On A Cold Morning

Try putting in new, stock spark plugs. Check and possibly replace the air filter. Charge the battery. Get the bike running then check the battery voltage at 2000 rpm. It should show 14volts or more. If not, get the charging system checked. Get a can of starting spray (for future problems).

Get the compression checked. Your bike is 21 years old and I will bet that the valves are needing to be reseated. Check the valve clearances with a cold engine and reset valve clearances as needed. Check the area where the head contacts th cylinder. Any mist of an oil stain? Tighten the head or replace the head gasket. If replacing the gasket, now is the time to have the shop lap re-seat the valves. Have them sync and balance the carbs as well. Your bike will now have its' manners back and show you the dedication it should.
