Engine start delay

Just took my motorcycle out for the summer. The battery is charged but I have a delay in starting. When I push the start button it takes 5-8 seconds before the engine starts. Any idea as to what the problem is?

Before the engine starts does it crank or it is completely dead?
Did you check the air filter to be clean?Did you put fresh gas in the tank?

Why is my bike clicking and wont start?

make sure you got your terminals tight. then if so its still your battery not charged, just push it til you get jogging speed jump on put it in second pop the clutch it will start let it run about 20 to 30 mins should be enough charge built in your battery to restart it, if not your battery is bad even though its fairly new could be low on water inside it !

you may have touched the frame when tightening the positive terminal which will blow the main engine fuse.
Sometimes will blow the fuse in the top of the solenoid.

Check your fuses and replace the blown one with the correct size and you will be good to go.

It's scary when your bike dont start just after you get done working on it huh?

It's happened to us all. I'm sure its a fuse.

It may still be your battery. My 2002 vt750 dc started all the time for the last 8 years. Then one morning it would not turn over the motor fast enough to start. Tried charging, but no difference. Finally I put in a new battery and it started right up. Your battery of 9 years did a great job, now get a new one.

I have a carburated 2008 hyosung gt250r that cant start!!!!

I would say the clicking is not the battery but next to or above it is a starting relay which from your discription has gone out. You can locate it by following the large red wire comimg from the battery. The soleniod can be tested by jumpering from one side of the soleniod to the orthersid use a pair of needle nose pliers. If it turns over its diffinitly the culpert. Just change it out and ride on. They use a low amperage coil to close this larger load of the starter circuit.

My engine wont start

check battery for full charge and tight cables.use test light check for power to starter when pushing start button.if there is, check starter. if none check for power to start solenoid on small wire going to it w/ testlight when you press start.if none, check start button, & wiring.if youi have power to it,but no start, take large screwdriver & make contact between both solenoid cable posts, make sure bike is in neutral. should crank, confirming that solenoid is bad.also, even if the solenoid has no power going to it to energize it you can still use the screwdriver trick to get bike to crank.
