Question about 1990 Honda CBR 600 F(1)L

Final drive knocking/jolting

At low speed/revs and closed throttle on centre stand,in drive on tick over, there is a random clonking/jolting from within the cluth/gearbox engine area, causing there whole bike to jolt, and the final drive to jolt, sometimes momentarily causing the rear wheel to even halt, then continue (very quickly);in every gear.Have changed entire gearbox (except shift changeing mechanisms)and entire clutch(including clutch outer).Still does it with drive chain off,but not quite as bad.Engine running is not effected, and crank seems ok.After all this work so far,I'm now at a complete loss!Anybody help please? This just doesn't make sense to me

The engine running does not seem to be effected by the jolting, which points to something from the clutch onwards. The sound is like something turning and meshing together, then jumps out of mesh and back in again. The bike sometimes almost rocks off the centre stand.Does not do it in neutral.gearbox seems obvious answer, but I have changed it!

Yeah.I changed the entire gearbox ie mainshaft and countershaft, with all associated bearings, cogs, spacers etc.All I didnt change was the gearshifter arms/mechanism.Dont know if this could effect it like this;it looked ok

Does the engine's sound working follows this jolting or it does nothing to do with it?If you close your eyes can you hear the jolting (not as a metal sound but as an engine's hick up)?

Sounds to me like the gearbox's bearings but you should have seen them when you overhaul the engine to replace the gearbox. Is that right? You did open the crankcases, didn't you?

I have just rebiult my 1990 sportster with a 1250 kit and i have a small knock or tick

The problem is most likely to be transmission related. Check the clutch for wear and play. And ensure the final drive is correctly adjusted.

2004 triumph daytona 955i. Engine makes a single knock that can be heard when transitioning from idle to throttle. Does not knock continuously nor throughout the rev range only once when opening throttle...

Apparently it's the SAI value that's causing this symptom on my 955i - It closes at 2000 rpm (or so) going up and opens again when the engine speed drops below 2000 rpm. I'm told that some bikes have noisier valves than others, but they are solenoid driven so a click or knock is to be expected.

I have a Kawasaki Ninja, ZX6r, 1997 F3. The bike starts great and rev's great when standing. At high rev's its as sweet as a nut. The problem seems to be when riding the bike and the revs are below 4,000....

There are adjustments on carbs for low speed air intake (air mixture screw)find out factory settings and reset that mixture.Sounds to me like those adjustments are out of sink.If so the bike will run very bad from idle to about 1/4 throttle then run great from there up to full throttle.this definitly sounds like carb problem.

Thanks to 'Double Clutch', more info

If the rear tire is bolted down and torqued properly then the chain should not move the rear tire. Try taking the chain off the bike completly and if you can remove the sprocket cover and run the bike and maybe see what going on. Check the chain links while it is off to see if they move freely.
