1st off the site glass window u see should have the oil level 1/2 way up the glass a max of 3/4, the oil that is recommended for this bike is 10W-40W, u can use conventional (any name brand, Castrol and Valvoline are what I trust)) oil but synthetic is highly recommended as it greatly extends the life of the engine, change oil and filter every 2-3,000 miles, if u store the bike over the winter make sure to change the oil before u store it, oil gets many corrosive chemicals (from normal combustion blowby) after a very short time, they can damage the bearings if you leave them in the engine over winter storage. I have ridden *** bikes for 35 years and this is what i base my recommendations on as well as factory maintenance books..

Where is the transmission fluid dipstick located in a 1983 chevy g20 van?

If it is equipped with one it will be towards the back of the engine with a yellow top to it. Most likely you do not have one considering the age of the vehicle. In this case the way you check the level is on the transmission itself. There will be a drain plug and a fill plug. The fill plug is about half way up the side of the tranny. When the fluid is even with the bottom of the hole you are full.

How many liters of oil does a 2002 road king take?

2.8 liters and then check the oil with the dipstick. With the bike on the side stand, pull the dipstick and check the oil level. There are two marks on the stick. The upper mark is "FULL HOT" and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Keep the oil level between the two marks. Do not overfill. Your Road Kind and all other Big Twin Harley's are what we refer to as "dry sump" engines. It does not have a reservoir of oil in the cases but rather carries the oil in a remote oil tank. On your Road King, this tank is on the bottom of the transmission,

Good Luck

Have just purchased 1975-76 Z900 cant find any means of checking engine oil level

On the right side case cover, at the bottom towards the rear, there will be a sight glass.
If the oil is dirty, it seems hard to find because it blends in with the motor.

Just remember this, if it has a sight glass, usually the oil cap does not have a dipstick.

If the oil cap has a dipstick, then that is you means of checking oil level

Gear oil change

Somewhere on the bottom or bottom outside edge of the gearbox is a drain plug. Drain the oil and put the plug back in place. Somewhere on the top of the gearbox casing, including the left and right outer case covers, you will find a dipstick for checking the oil level. Fill via the dipstick hole. Some bikes don't have an actual dipstick but only have a top plug. Normally you will find it near the kick starter lever. When no dipstick is provided, they expect you to drain the old oil and then re-fill with the amount of oil specified for the bike. Use 10w40 motor oil. NEVER use synthetic oils. They can screw up the clutch.

Oil

Make the bike stand vertical....Look on the right side of the engine toward the bottom. There should be a window to see the oil level....also the marked lines...between them.
