My signals and horn are very weak, how does the electrical system work? I am proficient in household wiring and wonder if i can re run these circuits horn and indacators and lights very weak have cheecked batrey and fuse

Check the resistance from the negative lead of the horn or signals to the main ground on the bike, where the negative battery wire connects to the frame. If you have a poor ground your headlight may be dim too.

As long as your battery has tested good, and it is fully charged, the next thing to look at is your electrical ground. Clean the battery terminals with some emory cloth and also shine up the ends of the battery wires that attach to the battery. Then trace the black and the red wiress to the other end and clean them with emory cloth. chances are that corrosion has made a connection poor resulting in subpar flow of electricity to your signals and horn. Once you have checked and cleaned the battery wires test and see how your signals and horn are working. If they are still weak then you need to open up the signals and the horn and clean up the connections there. get back and let me know how you make out. I know we can solve your problem.

Why does my horn not work on my 2000 Honda Civic Lx

Without testing who knows . Do you know what a automotive electrical diagram is ? How to test electrical circuits using a volt meter . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb/ Enter the vehicle info. Year , make , model etc.... Under system click on interior & driver amenity ,then under subsystem click on horn . Click the search button then the blue link . Looking at the wiring for the horn i see a whole bunch of thing's that could go wrong . Fuse , relay , wiring , the horn it self , the cable reel inside the steering column ,other wise called a clock spring. Does the car have a air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ? Videos on youtube. showing how to test horn circuit .

Electrical short, No headlight, no horn, no turn signals

may have burnt a wire inside the wiring loom, use multi meter to check each wire continuity, or perhaps jump a wire from + battery to the positive horn wire.
use a fuse on the jump wire in case of short.
If this work then definate break in loom

Speedo, turn signals, brake lights, horn stopped working. All else is fine.

Gap your plugs to 38 thou. Check all your bulbs (one burned out will affect the rest) Take a look at all your fuses and make sure they are all ok. Otherwise you are probably looking at a wiring short which will require trouble shooting of the elctrical system. Buy your self a service manual for your bike, this will help you a lot.

Honda xl 100 1982 wiring problem

i ould start by checking the main engine ground, its a real possibility for your problem and always a good idea, if that does not solve it then i would clean the contacts in the horn button and turn signal control. be careful when opening this as the parts are small and can easily fall out of place
