Jumped with other car running?
if it clicks,
we next hot wire the starter solenoid,
if it clicks now with good battery (or running jump), it's a
1: bad starter. or 2: seized engine (turn by hand? yet)
if it cranks fast now hot wired, the KEY line is dead
ask how to fix either.

SOURCE: My 2007 tundra went dead. The ignition won't start

There are several possibilities ranging from a defective starter, to bad cable connections, to the onboard security system locking out the starter relay, or an aftermarket accessory interfering with the starter circuit, or a locked-up/damaged engine.

I have had vehicles towed into my shop for similar complaints when the only problem was that the customer was using a cheap duplicate key that they had made at the hardware store that did not have the required computer chip in it.

I have also had vehicles towed in where the customer had replaced the battery and did not have good cable connections or forgot to connect one of the wires that was supposed to to get hooked-up to the battery connector.

Then there are the questions: Are you getting any kind of "clicking" noises when turning the key or is it completely dead? If it is clicking, WHAT is clicking? Is it the starter motor itself that you hear or just the starter motor relay? Do you have battery power at the starter "S" terminal when turning the key? If not, is the transmission selector in "PARK"? Does the shift indicator on the dash indicate that the transmission range sensor is in "PARK"? (possible defective transmission range sensor) Are there any fault codes stored in ANY of the modules connected to your onboard computer network?

It is really hard to say without being able to see the truck.

SOURCE: My Tundra Starts Intermittently

You have a defective starter solenoid, the heavy contacts are burned in side the solenoid.

SOURCE: 08 Toyota tundra will not start, only clicks

Have you put a DVOM on the battery terminals when trying to start the truck? If your battery is fully charged and you put the meter on the battery does it go from like 13.5 V and drop to like 6 or 7 volts?? If it does then you have 2 possibilities. #1 the battery was not properly load tested and the voltage may be there but the CCA's are gone = New Battery #2 if you checked all the wiring...all the way back down to the starter and ALL terminals were removed and cleaned then you may have a bad starter. Remove it, take it to the NAPA dealer and have them test the starter. You could also look under the hood in the main fuse console and remove the Ignition relay and have it tested. Also as an after thought...where is it clicking from? Because the clicking usually means the solenoid is working. If the solenoid is built onto the starter, then I'd definitely be removing the starter for testing.

Starter problems, Suggestions???

Starters tend to fail intermittently. Yes, if it started after a "whack", I woul suggest replacing your starter. Make sure all connections are tight and of course clean terminals and cables.

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has a new battery but won't start. When I try to jump start it, it just makes a clicking sound but won't start.

Most likely you have a bad connection somewhere. Trace the battery cables and clean/tighten all terminals or try jumping to a different lug. You might also try removing the starter and jumping directly to the starter to verify that it is good.

Tried to start, it goes click one time.

It sounds like a faulty alternator, the alternator uses the momentum of the running motor to charge your battery. if this is faulty than the battery will not get charged while running and go flat. use a multimeter to test the battery. or try to jump start the car, if it starts when jump started than you know its an alternator.

Got a jump with key turned now wont start

If it cranks but won't start, you'll have to figureout if it is a fuel or ignition problem.Have you checked the computer for trouble codes ?

1992 toyota pickup won't start and battery won't charge

Sounds like your battery is just too dead, has enough juice to light up the system for a minute but cranking drains it and if it wont charge then deff fried, you could try removing the battery and starting the car with cables to confirm the starter still works. If a bettery is too dead then when you are jumping it, it takes to much of the power just trying to get through the battery.

I don't know what is wrong with my car the belt just recently broke and we had to replace it but before we did that the battery died when we were driving and we killed the battery trying to get the car...

sounds like it may be a bad alternator. jump start the car and if it gets going disconnect the negative battery cable and if it dies you have a bad alternator. It may die as soon as you unplug the jump start cables.

Battery goes dead, overnight

possibly a parasitic drain issue. Have you installed an after-market stereo in the vehicle recently? If so that could be the cause, if not. check things like the trunk light or hood light (if you have one) or anything not so obvious that might not be turning off.
