Question about 1997 Honda CB 500
After riding the engine revs increase to 4000. If the engine is switched off and restarted, theengine idle's at about 1000 revs. I have a 1980 CB400 with the same revving issue described above. I have replaced the air-control valves, adjusted and cleaned the carbs. Not sure where to go now. I think I am going to go the accellerator pump route. I am pretty sure it is vacuum related because I made it lose vacuum and it stopped revving. Any insight would be helpfull. Will let you know what I find with the accellerator pump. Hayden
Sounds like you are running lean. you may need to find an air leak in the intake tracked of the carb and motor. or the carb is dirty or miss adjusted pilot screw.
