Question about 2000 kawasaki ZX-12R

F1 light came started missing and losing power

It loss power then quit and would not blew the fuse that handles the gauges....i replaced it and it still will not start....and it keeps blowing the fuses

Some wire with positive current has been scratched and touches probably the frame or something grounded.Start from around the steering axle and around the fusebox to find it and isolate it with duct tap.

I blew two fuses on my 85 honda rebel 250 . I replaced the to fuses and started the bike up road for a little bit then shut if off blew one more fuse replaced again now no power. Good battery

What you need to do is determine what is causing the fuses to blow. normally it is something shorting out. definitely check all the wiring. by a repair manual for the bike. it will help out

Bike will turn over but won't start wiggle wire harness an lose all electrical and I lose all electricals, no dash lights, no lights, no starter button. Nothing replaced all fuses and got electricals

What kind of bike? It sounds like maybe the kill switch is either stuck or there is a loose connection somewhere. My cbr does it from time to time, but if I switch the handlebars back and forth holding the start switch it'll fire over, either that or you might have a bad connection between the wires and the ignition relay, check your power going to the cdi box and voltage regulator, and double check the ignition fuses for power whe the key is on

me id start by looking real close at the wires to and from the head and tail lamps and handle switches , then id go farther at looking inside the head and tail lamp housings for say water or a rusty or damaged wire , finnaly arriving at looking at the battery voltage with a voltmeter when im reving engine this shouldn't go over say 12.8 volts if it does your voltage regulator is defective and is damaging all your bulbs

Was there a bad smell as well? I would bet it's your regulator. Sounds like its frying everything. I believe if you check it (or have it checked) it's gone bad. Kinda on the pricy side, around $200 (+/- 50), but easily a "do it yourself" repair. I would recommend replacing the battery at they same time as its been damaged if the regulator was bad.
You see, by what you describe as the symptoms, first needed to "roll-start", then (in my opinion due to the bad regulator) the headlight blew out and the engine cut out (Again, I'll also bet you that once you get the bike going again you'll find other bulbs blew as well such as your turn signals). This fits the model for the procession of symptoms as the regulator starts to fail. Specifically, it's job is the "regulate" the amount of amps (electricity) being sent to charge the battery and, very generally speaking, to the whole electrical system. As the regulator fails it starts to send too much electrical current to the battery/system. Usually the battery if FRIED in the process which is why my first question was about a swell (like rotting garbage).
I'm sorry to say I learned all about this as I had exactly the same experience as you except I was a few hundred mile from home at the time.

Hi Anonymous, you have a hard/dead short that should be easy to find generally they are the easiest. Time to get out your test light and start tracking the wire from the power side of the switch, circuit breaker or the blown fuse receiver, when the test light quits lighting you are very close to your short. i had to run a inline fuse on my bike with a 15 amp fuse, but there is a short somewhere. check all connections at solenoid make sure nothing is touching

The FI message means the computer detects a problem with your fuel injection system. Problems with the power commander can cause this message, to troubleshoot it I would start by removing the power commander. You can also try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (15 or so) to reset your bikes computer.

Loss of power

If car starts and lose the power afterwards it might be alternator problems or fuel supply (filter, pump, injectrors) or ignition (plugs, wiring/distributor). If lights come on but car is dead it is starter or incorrect timing (brocken timing belt (chain)) or fuses.

Loss of power

I figured out what was causing my problem. I was winterizing my bike today and I decided to take the tank off to check the fuel filters to see if they were clogged...they weren't but I did notice something sticking out of the end of the long tube that comes from the underside of the tank....I guess its some sort of breather tube. I blew through the tube and a big chunk of dirt/mud came out. I put the tank back on took it for a ride and it runs as good as new.
