Question about 2001 Honda VT 1100 C2 Shadow Sabre

1 Answer

I have a 98 vt1100 ace and it acts like it starving for fuel

This is an intermittent problem and seems to possibly be centered around when or if the tank gets low on fuel.

It sounds like you have either water or dirt in your fuel tank. The only fix is to remove the tank drain it completely and then look with a flash light to see if you have additional dirt, rust etc. in the tank. Also check the fuel line leading out of the tank as it could be deteriorated also.

Intermittent problems like yours are the hardest to diagnose. But if it is getting more frequent, at least, may be easier to find. I would start with a fuel pressure check, eliminate as many possibilities as possible. New fuel filter? Maybe a sensor when warmed up is ...well, that would probably register a trouble code. Just fishing, here, but it just possibly could be an ignition problem when warmed up will start mis-behaving- like a bad coil, or ignition module. Good luck.

I have a '98 Honda VT1100 ACE Tourer. She idles and accerlerates good on the kickstand. When I hold the RPM's in there she starts "cutting" out on me. New fuel Shell Premium: carb job complete....

Check your battery with a load tester, make sure you don't have a bad cell. The charging system is showing stress, (the yellow wires are from the stator and will get hot and burn if the battery has a bad cell or the voltage regulator is no longer functioning properly).

My 04' vt1100 is acting like the fuel filter is

you should be able to drain your carburettas without removing them. look for a drain screw on the bottom of the carby bowel. If it is fuel injected, then you may have to replace the injectors.

03 bonneville hard starting, stalls intermittently.seems like starving for gas at times. changed fuel filter and added several fuel injector cleaners

Hello! There are a couple of possibilities for your issue:

1) Fuel pump relay - this tells the fuel pump resistor to turn the fuel pump, either in high or low mode.
2) Fuel pump resistor - see above (very common issue)
2) Faulty fuel pump

Hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa!
