Brake light indicator not engageing with front or rear brake

Yzf r1 2001 - New battery - light for rear license plate not connected -

Checked power all the way up to other side of brake switch front and rear good. That is as far as my knowledge thus far takes me. Need this pretty quick being that I need an inspection to be legal. Oh also mysteriously my front lights will not come on high beams work when engaged and turn off when disengagaged. left right blinkers work good. I have a scorpio alarm kit installed as well seems to function correctly with remote. Hope this is enough info, if not please email for more. Thank you.

I know it sounds basic, but had similiar problem on my 2000 yzf r6. Both the contacts to the brake light were touching and the bulb was blown. Is it a standard back end + lights etc?

Why is the back fog light not working on a daewoo lanos 03 plate

I have never seen a fog light on the rear of a car. I am assuming you are referring to the backup light or the Tag light. is it the light for the license plate or the white light in the brake and tail light assembly?

Tail light and brake light has stopped working YZF-R125

Hi, Anonymous tail light issues are relatively easy to diagnose and repair always check the tail light fuse first and make sure you have power on both sides of the fuse holder and the usual suspects are:
1. Tail light bulb element is broken.
2. Tail light bulb soldered contacts are extremely worn down.
3. Tail light bulb socket corroded.
4. Tail light bulb socket has no power and or ground.
5. Tail light wiring harness damaged from the rear tire.
6. Tail light rear fender wiring harness connector faulty due to corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.
Before diagnosing any brake light issue always check the bulb and fuse first for integrity a brake light staying on is usually caused by the front brake light switch, which is mechanical, not disengaging. On early models moving the throttle control housing closer to the front brake master cylinder is the main fix. On late models, the switch gets tweaked and needs to be realigned. A brake light that does not come on when the brake lever is applied can be caused by a faulty switch or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. The rear brake light switch is hydraulic and it is extremely rare to malfunction in a closed circuit condition causing the brake light to stay on. Usually, rear brake light switch issues are caused by no brake pedal free play or a sticky rear master cylinder piston. A brake light that does not come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed can be caused by a faulty switch, air contamination in the brake line, or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. Brake & turn signal lights

QUICK PRELIMINARY CHECK:
  • If neither brake light works, go here.
  • Check all the connections to the signal switch and trailer relay.
  • Turn on the parking lights. Make sure that each light is equally bright (side-to-side). The signal filament is brighter than the parking light filament, so if one light is "extra" bright the bulb may be inserted 180 degrees out in the socket, or the contact plate in the light may be reversed.

To reverse the contact plate for the front parking light with staggered pin bulbs:

Remove the lense and the bulb
Pull back the boot as far as possible. Some boots require that you remove the parking light completely.
Push the wires into the back of the light housing.
Turn the contact plate 180 degrees and engage the tangs as you pull the wires out.

To reverse the contact plate for the rear round parking lights with staggered pin bulbs (You can simply reverse the leads on the rear rectangular lights):
Remove the lense and the bulb
Push the wires into the back of the light housing.
Turn the contact plate 180 degrees and engage the tangs as you pull the wires out.
  • If you don't have brake and signal lights on one side, disconnect the red and yellow (or green) wires from the light. With the parking light switch on, touch the red wire to each connection on the light. One connection should be bright, the other less bright. Connect the red wire to the dimmer connection and the other wire to the brighter connection. More possibilities here.
  • Use only a Signal Stat brand flasher, #180 (it comes with the kit). Some others don't consistently indicate flashing on the dashboard, or may not flash at all.

1991 honda accord brake light indicator stays on dash

Brake light switch? Its mounted near the top of the brake pedal lever. The lever contacts and holds the switch closed which keeps the lights from turning on when at rest. When you step on the brake, the contact is broken, the switch extends and completes the circuit allowing the brake lights to illuminate.
