New brakes squeaking

Had front brakes replaced 6 months ago and have squeaked ever since. Took back to "reputable mechanic", replaced pads. Went out of town, had to SLAM on brakes to avoid accident, brakes started squeaking again. Took back again, nothing wrong, greased. Still squeaks. Never had a problem before replaced. Love this van!!!!!

Sounds like you may have had soft compound brake pads before and now been replaced with metal compound pads.metal pads great for long wearing and long life but squeal a lot and are harder to stop the vehicle.

you can try to give front brakes a good pressure wash or hose the dust off as this is usually the reason for the squealing.

SOURCE: Squeaking brake from the front ( one side)

use sand paper to sand the pads, this should eliminate the noise.

SOURCE: 84 Eldorado squeaks when driving and stops when i press thebrakes

its time for new brakes..read your owners manual...brakes will tell you they need replacing with squeeks or chirps and these go away when you press the pedal.

SOURCE: my front brakes squeak, I replaced the pads but

There is an ongoing problem with squeaking front brakes on dodge rams and charger rt.From 2000 up to present Ihave been told dodge used cheap pads and rotors on a lot of there cars and trucks.I own a 2008 charger rt with 40000 miles and changed brake pads and rotors twice and they still squeak.i herd only remedy is to buy upgraded pads and rotors but these are much more expensive then stock parts. For now i am putting up with squeak till i get the extra money to get rid of noise.the brakes wont fail they just squeak.(I know very annoying)for now i just turn up radio a little louder LoL.But until dodge admits there using cheap ???? parts complaining to dealer didnt help.Good luck. PS A friend of mine put on slotted rotors and expensive pads and yes the still squeak. So mabye it has somthing to do with calipers but again dodge wont admit this.

2009 Suzuki swift hatchback automatic 40000km and squealing brake noise and engine light is on why?

The two matters are unrelated. The squeaking brakes are because you need new brake pads, if you have new pads... the mechanic failed to use brake shim grease which stops the squeak. In severe cases, the front disc brakes may be scored... scratched deeply and require replacement. If you replace the front disc pads, replace the rear brake shoes as well! The service engine light is timed by your dealer to remind you when to take your car in for a service check. Many models have a sequence of steps that one can find on-line to reset the service indicator light back to re-zero the count.

My brakes are squeaking

Remove brake pads..front. Deglaze discs and pads and use created on the back of the pads.
Discs must be grease free.
When installed and sensor fitted, ensure sliders are free before pumping brake pedal a few times.
Road test and remember to bedcin brakes again for 500 miles

FRONT WHEEL SQUEAKS IN COLD WEATHER BUT SQUEAK DISAPPEARS WHEN CAR HAS BEEN DRIVING FOR 10 MINS. JUST HAD NEW BRAKES 8 MONTH AGO?

OK, this unfortunately is a comon problem and one that I try to remedy when I put new brakes onto my customers cars.........you see the edges of the brake pads are sahrp, and they are "designed" to crumble away as the pad wears, but if you purchase hard-compound brakes, which last longer I might add, this material doesnt break away and you get squeaking.......

What needs to be done is "chamfering" of the pads...which means they need to be removed and the edges are sanded/grinded away so the sharp 90 degree angles are 45 degree angles...this is the best solution that I have found.....

Please help....I replaced the front brake pads on my 07 Saturn Aura because there was a squeaking sound. I took the old pads off and there was plenty of meat left and the rotors look very good. I didnt...

check the dust shield that is behind the rotor. It should be attached to the steering knuckle. if it is bent and touching the rotor it will squeak. I would jack the passenger side of the car up and remove the wheel. Once you have done that try to spin the rotor. Try to get it to squeak. It may also be dirt on your brake pads. If it came back after a week it is most likely dirt. Try a couple cans of Braklean while you have it apart.

We changed the brake pads but now they squeak worse than they did. We changed them about 3 weeks ago. The break pads we took off didn't even seem worn at all

What did you replace the pads with? Sometimes inexpensive aftermarket pads will squeak. I like to use only OEM pads and pad shims and never have a problem.

Renault Magane Authentique 2001 (Y)- Squeaky brakes and shaky front wheel. The brakes squeak often but not always and sometimes even squeak when brake pedal is released. Seems to squeak less or not at all...

What condition are the front disks in? is there a lip on the disks ? Now what i do when i get problems like this is to change the front pads for a good brand and not the cheapos ,also i get the hacksaw and cut a groove through the pad horizontal to the disk and this often cures the problem as for the rattle then blob of glue on the hubcap and renew the antiroll bar link rod if fitted or the bushes on the arm ,think this model has a link bar and not a bush direct onto the lower track control arm but hey iam a back street cowboy not a dealer (fit new) mechanic on one model only

Rear Brakes

Brakes can vary in the amount of time that they last. For starters there are many diffrent grades of pads, the cheap pads last me about a month, but the good expensive pads last me 6-8months or so, and I drive really hard. So depending on how drive can determine how long they last. Usually you can replace your rear pads once for every two or three sets of front pads you replace as most of the braking work is done from the front. Pads are made intentionally to squeak when they are running down, so when you hear that squeak get em replaced, but if the rear's aren't squeaking just change the front and do the rears next time.

Good Luck
