Question about 1975 Honda Cb 400 F
My honda 550 four shut down on my while i was on the highway. Cant restart it, lights down turn on, no nuetral light or anything. Cant kick over. Dont think its the battery (I bypassed it with the charger, still nothing) Fues wasnt blown. Where should i go from here? Thanks
Hey, sure sounds like a battery problem to me!!
I would try jump starting from a good battery (......say the one in the wife's Subaru) and if all works OK, just replace your bike battery.
These things are under a lot of stress on cold startup, and once they are gone...they're gone for good!
Once you have all up and running again, check the battery voltage with a voltmeter.
In engine-off position your battery should register about 12-13 volts. With engine running, 14-15 volts is usually delivered.
If voltmeter registers less than 12 volts with engine running, I would be looking at a faulty voltage regulator, or faulty AC generator output. You may have to seek the assistance of an Auto Electrician or a trusted motorcycle repair shop.
Good luck, mate.
