Question about 1996 Honda CBR 600 F(3)T

1 Answer

Cbr 600 f3 will not start

My bike has been sitting for 7 years with fuel in it. I have cleaned the carbs and fuel pump and changed the fuel filter. Gas gets to the carbs. when gas is added directly into the carbs it starts and dies.

The bike is sitting for 4 years, I have some one to check it out. The bike did start but it would shut off if gas is not idle. The guy told me to replace the fuel pump which I did. Now still doesn't want...

After 4 years you are virtually guaranteed the carbs will need to be taken apart and cleaned. Gas breaks down into a brown varnish type material. This varnish needs to be dissolved by disassembly and soaking.
The fuel system in general will be suspect and needs a thorough cleaning from tank to carbs. No way around this if the bike has been down for that long.
Take care.

My CBR 600 fl 1990 runs fine then cuts out after 1-20 miles.

I think the gas cap should be vented. Is it possible the vent is not working and the tank is forming a vaccuum stopping the fuel flow?Maybe try riding with the cap part way open with only enough fuel in the tank for the test.(So no fuel splashes out).
I read your problem and saw "any help would be appreciated" and this popped in my mind about the vent.
I hope this helps.

Carbed engine stops dead after 10-20 seconds of running.

If it was the ignitor unit (I assume you mean the ECU) it wouldn't start at all.
Did you check the fuel pump and it's relay? If the bike was garaged for 2 years you should recalibrate your carbs. If there was gas in them all that long they need to be cleaned.

Bike won't start

Check compression ratio and valves clearance. The carbs leak any fuel from their o-rings.Spray through the air box with a carb cleaner spray while pressing start button but little bit at a time.Don't twist the throttle too much and always use choke until she fires up for good.

Bike shuts off

check or replace fuel filter..if you've done that the check fuel pump to make sure its pumping out fuel....take line off fuel filter that goes to carbs and put it in a can start bike and you should see fuel coming out.

The carb may need cleaned! make sure tires are not dry rotted! The seals may have dried out after a long wile but in most cases you should be alright!
