I depresse my clutch in my '91 toyota pickup and it stuck in neutral and my clutch won't engage now. The clutch pedal is very hard to depress now, I've tried bleeding it and there is no air in the lines. Any suggestions?
There is a problem with the pressure plate spring or possibly the throwout bearing is bound up,you should be able to pull the rubber boot from around the clutch fork and have someone depress the pedal, you should be able to see if it's a problem with the bearing.Unfortunatly the trans is probably going to have to caome off.

Normally, only automatic transmission cars are equipped with a neutral safety switch. There is a switch on the clutch pedal up under the dash that will not allow the starter to engage unless the clutch is depressed.
Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).
if its manual and you literally cannot pull the gear shifter out of gear, then when the engine is off, take off the parking brake, have someone rock the vehical back and forth gently while you keep the clutch depressed and try to take it out. then it should be towed (still in neutral might i add) to a shop. if this does not work with the clutch depressed, give it a shot with the clutch engaged (pedal all the way up)
Im assuming this is manual transmission. Neutral safety switch is mounted on pedal assy bracket near pivot point of of clutch pedal arm. When clutch pedal is depressed it grounds and lets starter engage.
The clutch switch is designed to prevent vehicle from accidentally engage the starter unless the clutch pedal is depressed. (It is the equivalent to the Neutral Safety Switch for automatic transmissions.)
Pressing the clutch pedal by itself will NOT activate the starter unless the key is in the RUN position.
Check your ignition switch. it may be stuck on RUN.
If you find the switch, you can temporarily jump across it, 'till you get a new one. When you go to buy it you are looking for a clutch switch. Neutral switches are found on automatic trans vehicles. If you jump it out, be VERY careful to make sure you start in neutral with the clutch depressed as without the switch, it will start in any gear even with the clutch engaged.
dude under truck left hand sideof tranny, is your clutch slave cylinder, remove the hydraulic line, the two mount bolts. replace the slave cylndr. you got clutch !!!!
