I put on new starter and battery and no luck. when i try to start it nothing happens no sound, just break light comes on and stays on as long as i keep the key turned forward.
Ok. Here is the answer...I had the same thing happen to my Stratus. Turns out the problem was the ignition electrical switch. Same thing was happening not a sound from the engine just the BRAKE light would come on. Here's how you can test it. Leave the ignition switch on and using a jumper wire or equivalent run power from the battery to the starter wire. The car should turn on confirming the problem is in the ignition switch and not the starter. Good luck to you.
Sounds like the starter here is why....
fuse blows in the under hood fuse block because the draw is to high to the starter. I got lucky and changed to a higher amp fuse to start the car to get in to my garage..... DO THIS ONLY ONCE AS HIGH CURENT IS NOT THE FIX,
start by checking the battery for voltage
check all connections for corrsion @ battery due to age of vehicle and location of battery you may have an issue
check ground cable
check for voltage at the starter
clean or replace anything bad
remove fuse and check with ohm meter
check neutral safety switch for correct operation.
was your car ever stolen in the past and the ignition switch punched out ?
If all connections are good fuse good battery good I would look at the neutral safety switch and confirm its operation. Is it a standard or automatic ?

checked fuse wasn't blown. i just bought the starter .
i get power to the car, when i try to start it u can hear a noise comeing from the fuse box under hood.kind of like a light ticking noise. no heat comes from the car either just cold.something about a pump
no it wasnt ever stolen. but 3 weeks ago it was fine then the starter went out. my friend tried to start the car (repeated severl times) The battey gets juice. do u think something got burned up from trying to start it so many times?
its an automatic. now the battery wont keep a charge longer than five minutes. i think it might be an electrtical problem.(but idk)
sounds like your neutral safety switch
