MAKE SURE, you have not inadvertently neglected to check the "kill switch". I have dont that myself more times that I would care to admit.

Check your carb floats. Had similar problem and that's what it was.

SOURCE: my tlr 1000 wont start, it has fuel, a good spark,

charge your battery or use a jump box. oddly enough, it may sound like it is turning over fairly well but not enough to get it to fire. Happened to me all the time with my tl and my 900rr

Sounds like it has individual carbs for each cylinder and you need to check the one to the back cylinder to see if it is plugged, or has a float issue. If it only has one carb then you have a valve issue. IF it is injected then you have an injector that is not opening.

1979 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH 1000 front cylinder not firing


Hi, Derrick, you need "FIVE" things in order for a cylinder to run properly:
1. FUEL: in order to validate your not getting fuel spray some starting fluid into the air cleaner and hit the starter button, if it fires up and runs for a few seconds then you know you have a fuel delivery issue. Multi carb banks should be bench "SYNC"
2. SPARK: remove the spark plug and with it connected to the spark plug cable ground the threads to something metal you should see a bluish white spark if not you have a faulty spark plug, spark plug cable, ignition coil, condenser, CKP, ECM, sensor or the wiring in between.
3. COMPRESSION: you must have at least 80-100 PSI for most bikes, multi-cylinder engines should be within 10-15% of each other if not perform a leak down test you may have a burnt or bent valve or hole in the piston or broken rings.
4. CAM TIMING: confirm your timing marks are aligned to see if the cam chain or adjuster are worn out and the chain has skipped a couple teeth.
5. IGNITION TIMING: on older bikes check to see if your points have not closed up, timing plate has not become loose and confirm with a timing light for proper retard and advance functions, on newer bikes where timing is controlled by an ECM and is nonadjustable check you CKP, TPS, MAP, O2, sensor or its counterpart for integrity.

2002 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 Front cylinder does not fire till bike warms up a bit?


Definately try a spark plug first. What does the old spark plug look like? ( white, oil fouled, melted, metallic?). Usually a fuel issue will make the inoperable cylinder very hot. Might have a loose valve guide in the head, or a bent valve.

Yamaha xj600 84 mod has spark and fuel but will only turn over and will not fire


Remove the spark plug and flush out the excessive OVERFLOW OF FUEL as the engine failed to start. Unless this is flushed out the overflow of fuel with the dampness will not fire the cylinder.
Also check on the spark intensity with the plug as it must be good.
If not check the HT coils and the HT wires, check the incicent voltage on the HT coils for the coil trigger which must be fluctuating 12 volts.
This must start the engine if the timing is correct.

Not getting fuel to the # 1 cylinder, if i pull the plug wire off, nothing happens, but i have spark


You have few options.If EFI check injector and hidraulic lifter of inlet valve No.1 cylinder.Also make compession test.Any way you must open tappet cover-check rockers

check fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, air filter. cat converter, O2 sensor. failure of any of these wastes fuel. air/fuel ratio should be normal.

I think you need to start with the basics as there could be numerous reasons to this. Start by checking fuel pressure,engine cylinder compession and make sure that each spark plug is sparking.You did not mention which engine is you have.

Code says misfire in cylinder 1


You need to test for proper operation of the fuel injector, check for intake manifold vacuum leaks, and last check for possible low cylinder compression.
