PTC relay on compressor

I need help to connect the wires to the replacement PTC relay on the compressor.  Someone else removed the old PTCR so I did not get to see it wired.  There are four numbered terminals (1-4) on the front of the PTCR.  Three of the terminals are "full" sized.  There are blue, pink, yellow/green wires with female connectors and a green ground wire with a small female connector.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Try to find the "secret" wiring diagram.  Almost all refrigerators have a hidden paper wiring diagram.  It is usually tucked into a slot under the refrig, behind the front grill, or otherwise on the inside of the lower rear cardboard fan cover, or sometimes inside the back area near the fan.  While you're in there, it's a good practice to clean the coils.

Trying to replace the start relay on my Roper refrigerator.

depending on the model and the part # of the ptc overload relay will tell you how to wire it back as was,on some ptc O/L's there are spaces on the component where you just plug it on piggyback to this ptc,if not then all you do is wire the capacitor in parallel to the 2 power pins on the compressor, the cap doesn't actually start or run the units compressor, its there to help suppress the arcs on the relay when it starts, the compressor will operate without this capacitor

Most likely the compressor is not running. This unit has been in service for some time as most of the replacement parts have been discontinued. There are some common parts that are generic that can be found like the capacitor and PTC relay & overload but this would require someone troubleshooting the problem of the compressor not running and determining which part has failed. Then to get COMMON parts it would be a matter walking into an apliance parts supply with part in hand to find them. If the controller has failed.. it is not available. If the fan motor has failed it is not available. The usual failures are as stated above, capacitor, PTC relay & thermal overload. Some one will have to remove the cover of the compressor terminals measure input power, inspect the PTC relay, thermal overload, wiring, terminals on the compressor, then measure the compressor windings for resistance and grounds to the case of the compressor.

If one of the common parts that are generic has failed you can repair this unit. If the controller, compressor or fan has failed your looking at replacing the unit.

replace the ptc overload relay combination plugged into the compressors side in the rear area of the units base with an exact replacement ptc overload relay, just be sure to unplug the unit from the wall first,it merely unplugs out of 3 connections on the compressor after removing the spring wire that holds it in place on the compressor

Fridge acts like compressor is not coming on - Maytag wide by side - seven yrs. old

Pull the refrig out and remove the back panel . You should see the compressor and the cooling fan ( condenser fan ) . If the fan isn't working , it needs to be replaced . If the compressor isn't running or starts then cuts off , then the box plugged onto the side of the compressor , with 3 wires going to it ( overload/relay ) needs to be replaced .
