Hi, Anonymous before diagnosing any turn signal/running light/parking light issue make sure the bulb is good and the light fuse has continuity with a test light. If you have replaced you OEM lights with LED lights you are going to need a load equalizer. If no turn signals work the cause could be a faulty turn signal module or the connector going to it, look for corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets. Contact spray cleaner is great for removing corrosion. If your speedometer does not function properly it will have to be fixed first because your turn signal module gets the data from the speedometer for normal turn signal function. If your front turn signals don't work use a test light to check for power and ground at the bulb socket, then start backtracking the wiring through every wire connector to the turn signal switch/button and check for continuity, go all the way back to the fuse if necessary to find the cause of the malfunction. If your rear turn signals don't work check your rear fender wiring harness connector first for corroded, broken, loose pins/sockets, power, and a good ground, (the harness connector is usually located under the seat on the front of the rear fender) then keep tracing the wiring look for obvious harness damage caused by the rear tire. If you still can't find the malfunction backtrack from the rear fender wiring harness connector. If one side does not work you could have a faulty turn signal switch or module check for continuity. SOURCE: My blinkers stopped working changed the relay stil

Hi there! nice bike.. i serviced this type of bike before.. Anyway, I can see you replaced the relay (make sure it is compatible)... if other circuits fail there maybe a wire shorted to the ground (chassis).. check it physically for wear. Replace main fuse or better, check the fuses.

hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a 1978 yamaha

I used to have a 76 XS500. Got lots of compliments with that bike.
The wattage of the bulbs is important on how the blinkers work. The rate they flash, and if they flash is dependant on the current being drawn from the lights. Thats why many times if you have one light out the remaining light may stay on solid or flash faster.
You could try removing one bulb on each side and see if the blinkers work. Then reinsert and remove the other remaining bulbs. If they work normally with one bulb in each side whether front or rear then I would suspect the flasher relay.
Say the fronts work when the rear are out and the rear don't work when the fronts are out then I would suspect either the bulbs or sockets or your solder connection or switch.

You may also look into an electronic flasher. They automaticaly adjust for variable loads to flash so they flash at a normal rate.

Blinkers

You can check your blinker relay located in the fuse box. You should have 2 of them. 1 is for the emergency blinkers. Trade them to see if this corrects the problem. The other issue could be the multi switch is not functioning properly all the time.

hi it sounds like you have blown light bulbs and or blown fuse. there is a fuse for the blinkers and your brake lights in your fuse pannel.

BLINKERS NOT WORKING

Ok this a way different problem than i thought it was first thing to look at is the relays and fuses and connectors to make sure they are not loose, pull them out and reconnect them. Engine running = vibration. Engine not running = no vibration. If thats good your left light blinker may be shorted to your constant power. Your right blinker may have an intermittent open. I looked at turn signal flashers online they are about $10 each, maybe swap em out then return if it does not fix it. It really sounds like a wiring problem though so look at the back side of where the light is connector and tell me what you find if anything
Good luck
