Was told drive shaft was worn out needs rebuilt or new any 1 here of this

Rebuilding them consists of new U joints and maybe balanced. If it was so loose the the u joints wallowed out the keepers, Then yes, they would also need replaced. Cut off and welded on. That isn't a common problem, but I have had to replace a few. Not just on jeeps.

How is the easiest way to repair the speedo drive worm gear on a Holden Trimatic transmission, it is loose and sliding along the shaft. Box is still in car and this observation is from the speedo cable...

remove the rear extension housing of the transmission( remove tail shaft and rear cross member--transmission pan on jack) the drive hear is held in place by a small spring clip that fits under the gear on the shaft. The drive is by a small ball bearing in the hole in the shaft
If the gear is damaged you should be able to pull it back off the output shaft of the transmission.
watch for transmission oil coming out when you remove the extension housing.

On a 2001 town and country can i remove the rear driveshaft and run it only as a fwd?

yes you can
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the drive shaft to the rear differential.
3. If the drive shaft has a carrier bearing, loosen the bolts securing the bearing to the vehicle frame. Support the bearing so the drive shaft does not fall.
4. Disconnect the drive shaft from the power transfer unit on the transmission. It may be necessary to remove a cover to gain access.
5. Remove the drive shaft from the vehicle carefully so you do not hurt yourself.

U joints on rear drive shaft

U-joints are fairly easy to replace if you have a socket set and a bench vice. If you replace the rear U-joint, you should replace the front at the same time.
Remove the driveshaft by unbolting it from the rear differential and it will drop down and the other end will slide off the transmission shaft. You'll lose some tranny oil so have a bucket handy to catch it. You can refill what's lost fter you finish.
Now, using your benchvise, press the old u-joint bearing out using a socket that's small enough to fit inside the casting on one side and a socket thats big enough to press the u-joint bearing through on the other side of the casting. Press all four bearing cups out and revove the cross piece.
Do just the opposite to install the new bearing into the casting. The bearing cups will need to be carefully removed and fit along with the cross piece into the casting one at a time. Be careful that the needle bearings in the cups stay in proper position when you slip them off and back on during the proceedure.Then reinstall the driveshaft in your truck.

The Constant Velocity (CV) joints are located on the inner and outer edges of the axle shaft. The axle shaft runs through the hub and bearing in the spindle.

I have got a Hotpoint Aquarius tumble dryer. I have just put a new belt on it and a new rear drum axle with new bearings and front bearing pads.I have made sure that the front of the drum is sitting...

Make sure that you have fitted the spacing washer provided with the bearing kit on the drum shaft, and that it is sitting between the rear of the drum and the rear bearing, double check that you have got the front of the drum sitting on all the plastic bearings at the front.
If it still catches, then fit another washer on the drum shaft to space it off from the rear of the cabinet.

Viberation in drive line truck has 7 u joints, replaced the 2 rear ones,vibe still there,but somewhat better. the rest of the seem to be ok is there a different shaft that would fit? at $50.00 a joint it...

Did you change the carrier bearing. It will be cheap compared to a transmission and new drive shaft. Got 1 in my shop right now. Customer did not listen. Check that carrier bearing Cost $1350vs $50

On vehicles covered by this information that are equipped with a two-piece rear driveshaft assembly, the center support bearing may be removed for replacement. To be sure if your driveshaft may be serviced, check with your local parts supplier or dealer for parts availability information.
  1. Matchmark and remove the rear driveshaft assembly. For details, please refer to the procedure located earlier in this section.
  2. Remove the strap retaining the rubber cushion from the bearing support.
  3. Pull the support bracket from the rubber cushion and the cushion from the bearing.
  4. Press the bearing assembly from the halfshaft.

To install:
  1. Assemble the center support bearing to the driveshaft:
    1. If removed, install the inner deflector onto the front shaft half and ***** punch the deflector at 2 opposite points to make sure it is tight on the shaft.
    2. Fill the space between the inner dust shield and bearing with lithium soap grease.
    3. Start the bearing and slinger assembly straight onto the shaft journal. Support the shaft and using a length of pipe over the splined end of the shaft, press the bearing and inner slinger against the shoulder of the front shaft half.
    4. Install the bearing retainer, the rubber cushion onto bearing, the bracket onto the cushion and the retaining strap.

  2. Align and install the driveshaft assembly to the vehicle.

How do you change u-joints in 1995 ford explorer

remove the straps off the drive shaft u joint then pull drive shaft put plastic bag over transmission and put rubber band on bag so fluid don't run out next remove the cert clips from the drive line using a pair of plyers do this on both ends, next get a small socket that will slide threw the bearing hole and a large one to fit oppisite end with a hammer tap the old bearing out and then tap new one in and replace cerclips with new clip and install grease fitting grease fitting and installs into drive line hole. and your ready to go.

Drive shaft hits under the car...rear part of the middle of the rear end

the carrier bearing needs replacing you can't fix it you can get the replacement at a drivetrain componants store in your area make sure you take the drive shaft and bear with you so they can match it properly. please rate this............thanks
