My car has white smoke coming from the exhaust

he causes of white exhaust smoke can vary; however, it is common to see white exhaust smoke when first starting a car, especially on cooler days. This is generally steam caused by condensation. As the engine warms up and the condensation dissipates the white exhaust smoke (steam) is no longer seen. If excessive white exhaust smoke is present well after the engine warms up, it is necessary to have the car inspected for possible internal coolant leaks. Indicators of an internal coolant leak include billowing white exhaust smoke accompanied by a sweet odor or a low coolant reservoir level. An internal coolant leak can also contaminate the engine oil giving it a frothy, milky appearance. Even small amounts of coolant entering the combustion chamber will produce white exhaust smoke.
One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder head, a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine. Dirty coolant, a poorly maintained cooling system, a low coolant level, or a non-functioning cooling fan can cause engine overheating. In addition, engine wear can eventually cause the gaskets to lose their capacity to seal properly allowing internal coolant loss. Intake manifold gasket and head gasket failures are two of the most common sources of internal coolant loss caused by engine wear.
Never remove the radiator cap or coolant reservoir cap while the engine is hot or running as it can cause serious injury; always allow the car to cool down completely first. Checking for a low coolant level in the reservoir is the first step in determining if coolant loss is causing the white exhaust smoke. If the coolant reservoir is at the proper level but excessive white exhaust smoke is present, a cooling system pressure check is required to determine where, if any, coolant leaks are located.

Blowing smoke

White smoke usually is coolant burning. Is engine loosing coolant? Small pop could have been head cracking, or possibly head gasket failing. If you are loosing coolant, time to remove the head to see what failed.

I have 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. I realized this morning that when I turn on the heat, a bad smell comes in especially stopping. I see white smoke comes from exhaust. And it blows cold air to driver...

You may have a coolant leak, leaking on to exhaust pipe or engine. This could be the hose going to the thermostat. If so it would need replacing. Stop leak is only a temporary fix to get you home or something like that. You may also have a oil leak like coming from your valve cover gaskets leaking on the engine or exhaust. That is probably where the smell is coming from. I hope this is some help to you.

Sounds like you have a leaking head gasket or damage to the engine from when it overheated.
A leaking head gasket can cause compression to leak into the cooling system and pull coolant into the cylinders which is burned out the exhaust. It does not have to leak into the oil.
A shop would check for exhaust gas in the cooling system and run a compression test on the cylinders.

If nothing is leaking externally from engine area, then I'd have my exhaust analyzed for coolant coming out the exhaust. Bad intake gasket or head gasket usually indicated by coolant out the exhaust pipe.

Water coming out the exhaust

Water out of the exhaust is a natural by product of the catalytic process that occurs in your converter. A lot of water coming out the exhaust is NOT normal and indicates a possible head gasket problem.Watch you engine temperature gauge for overheating.The only way to know 100% is to have a mechanic pressure test your cooling system. Not to worry. Run the engine up to operating temp before jumping to conclusions and let the heat burn off any excess oil. A leaf will not do any damage.Do not let the engine overheat while idling and if the oil light comes on switch off immediately.
The smoke from the exhaust is oil deposited by oily assembly hands just burning off. It should dissipate after about 15 minutes at most.(or 5 miles' drive)

Coolant coming from the exhaust pipe is a common indication that you have a blown head gasket. This is a fairly common problem on 4runners equipped with a 3.0L V6 engine. I do not recommend driving the vehicle in this condition even if it is not yet overheating because it can lead to serious engine damage.

Coolant coming out exhaust, engine light on

when coolant gets into a cylinder it will eather keep the plug from firing or the plug will fire and the coolant will become steam (lots of it ) out the tail pipe and will smell sweet. if this is happening it is a head gasket problem.

Are you loosing coolant? If you are, you may have a leaking head gasket. Coolant will leak into the cylinder and is turned to steam as the engine is running and comes out the exhaust as steam.
