SOURCE: 2002 Dyna wide glide. Will not IDLE

not running for a year! You have a varnish buildup in the low end circuit of the carb. You will need to remove the carb and do a full teardown of the carb to properly rectify this problem. SOMETIMES we are able to free up the passages by putting SEA FOAM cleaner in the tank , fill her up with fresh fuel and ride through the tank and it will clear up. SEA FOAM can be purchased at an auto parts store and is sometimes very effective. 1/4 cup to full tank fuel.

SOURCE: 97 fxdl, difference between narrow/wide glide componants

You need the complete front end including the wheel. The FXDWG is somewhat of an oddball in that a lot of parts fit only that bike. A lot of other parts will not fit a Wide Glide. This even applies to the exhaust system.

Measure the diameter of your upper fork tubes, they're 39 mm tubes. The Wide Glide uses 41 mm tubes. The Wide Glide also uses a 21" front wheel.

SOURCE: 2002 HD Dyna Super Glide front brake noise at low

If it sounds like "swish-swish" noise, that is nornal for your bike. HD changed the front brakes in the 90's and the result was better stopping performance but there is that darned swishing sound. Don't worry about it, mate, there's nothing wrong with your bike.

Now, if you start to hear squealing when you pull the lever, take the bike to a shop to have the brakes pads replaced. If you feel vibration when you apply the brakes, take it to a shop immediately and have them check the wheel spokes for tightness.

SOURCE: how do I change the starter on 2002 wide glide?

To change your starter, you'll have to disconnect your battery. Then, drain your primary and remove the outer primary cover. Bend the small locktab back and remove the bolt that holds the starter jackshaft on. Remove the starter jackshaft. There's a coupling that may or may not come out with the jackshaft. If it does, make sure you mark which direction it goes. It will come out, either with the jackshaft or the starter.

Now, on the right side of the bike, remove the exhaust system and anything else that might be in your way. Disconnect the battery cable from the starter. There are two large bolts that take a 1/4" hex key as best as I can remember that hold the starter on. Remove these and the starter will come off. Do not remove the small long bolts that hold the starter onto the solenoid. There is also a singe wire that plugs onto the starter at the top of the solenoid endplate.

Good Luck
Steve

New master cylinder and brake line on 2002 wide glide no brake preasure wheel turnes no brake preasure what next

First thing, is the bleeder valve on the caliper at the wheel in the high position?
If it's on the lower part of the caliper, air will be trapped above it.
Sometimes, a brake vacuum bleeder works better than the traditional way:

http://www.harborfreight.com/brake-bleeder-and-vacuum-pump-kit-69328.html

After bleeding all the air you can, leave it overnight with the pedal/lever (you didn't state if the front or rear brake) tywrapped in the ON position overnight.

IF it's the rear brake, make sure there's a slight amount of play before the rod to the pedal engages the master cylinder piston (if not, it won't allow the piston to fully return).

No front brake preasure on 2002 wide glide

Sounds like the master cylinder is defective or you need to bleed the system. Did you possibly add in the wrong type of brake fluid and destroy all rubber components in the sytem???

I have a 2002 dyna wide glide and the brake light stays on all the time

It's probably the front brake light switch is broken causing this. The brake light switch is operated by a tab on the backside of the front brake lever. To get to the switch, you must disassemble the right handlebar switch housing. Remove the two bolts that hold the housing halves together. Loosen the throttle and idle cable adjustments and remove the throttle sleeve. Lower the bottom half and you'll see the switch in the front of the housing. You'll have to unsolder the wires from the old switch and resolder them to the new switch. I don't think Harley has changed them to plug on type wire connectors. This would be my best guess.

Good Luck

2001 hd dyna wide glide brake light does not come on when brakes are applied , tail light works, bulb is ok , is it the brake sensor ,where is it located and what does it look like thanx

Your Wide Glide has two brake light switches. One is in the right handlebar switch housing and operated by a tang on the front brake lever. If it's not working you probably have a bad switch up there as well. The rear brake switch is underneath the bike. Find the metal line coming out of the rear brake master cylinder. Follow this line back towards the rear brake. You should find a "tee" fitting with a small switch screwed into it. It'll have two wire plugs with about four wires on it unless they've changed something. You'll know it when you see it. Replace this switch first. Since the front brake light works off this switch as well, it may fix the front brake light switch as well. If not, you'll have to take the right handlebar switch housing apart to get to the front switch.

2006 fxdwg break light stays on whether breaks are in use or not happen whether bike is running or not. Dont know what the problem is all other lights function correctly

Ok the problem is probably in the front brake light switch. Loosen the bolts that hold the front master cylinder on the handlebars and slide the assembly as close to the right handlebar switch housing as possible. If this does not put the light out, then your front brake light switch is probably defective and needs replacing.

Good Luck
