85 Honda Gold wing 1200 in neutral light and motorcycling have to have clutch pulled in to start

I always pull in the clutch as a matter of habit :) but check the wiring path from the neutral sender switch on the clutch; one part goes to the dash light but the other goes to the starter circuit. Pulling in the clutch sends the "safe to start" signal that the neutral switch fails to send.

It is difficult to get my bike to go into neutral if I am standing still .. if it is going it will shift into neutral.....

the clutch is dragging then,i bet it also goes into neutral when the engine isnt running easily ? if it has a hydraulic clutch bleed it if its a cable clutch adjust it so there is 2 mm free play at the lever and if its still dragging it coukd either be a grooved clutch basket or warped clutch metal plates.

I bought a used 2004 XB12S. It has some issues the neutral light comes on whenever I squeeze the clutch handle... Also my pinch bolt on the rear axle is stripped out. How can I repair these issues?

the clutch lever assembly has a switch in it which only allows the bike to start in gear when the clutch is in or if its in neutral it will start with it out.so check the neutral light bulb live is there and check the switch goes to earth when its in neutral.the pinch bolt can be replaced with a new one if damaged and if the thread is damaged you need a helicoil putting in it or a timesert.

After a few unsuccessful minutes of trying to start my Shadow (It's cool out, late October) the clutch seemed to stop working. It's now harder to squeeze than normal, and when pulled in, the bike won't...

The neutral switch will prevent starting if the bike isn't in neutral or in gear with the clutch disengaged. You should be able to get the bike in neutral without disengaging the clutch by rocking the bike back and forth while depressing and lifting the gearshift as needed. Once the bike is in neutral, it should start without using the clutch. If it starts, let it run until it's warmed up and check to see if that frees up your clutch. If still no start, you have a mechanical problem, either with the clutch cable, the clutch pack or the transmission. You can also try using a hair dryer or heat gun to warm the cable and clutch housing to melt any ice-up causing a bind.

My gsxr600 2008 sometimes doesnt select neutral

If it is hard to get to neutral meaning you feel undue resistance and it skips past neutral into 2nd gear, check your clutch adjustment. It sounds like the transmission parts that are supposed to be stationary when you pull in the clutch are still moving from clutch drag.

I have a 1986 Venture Royal and nothing happens when I press the start button with a new relay and battery with the ignition on

The clutch has to be pulled to start the bike. The clutch safety switch may be broken.
Check the "run/stop" switch as well as the starter button
