Head light & spot lights quit working.

I own a rebuilt 2000 Elctra Glide Standard,
the new headlamp and spot lights quit working after hundreds of miles
after switching them. I do not have a blown fuse or a bad relay, What may cause this problem?

Check if there's (live + (positive) current coming to the headlight and the spot light once you turn them 'on' .
If theres no live (current) there thn the switch could be faulty, remove the switch and you can also check over there the live (current) to the input terminal of the switch and after tht operate the switch and check if theres current passing thro to the required wire for the head light and the spot light.
If theres no current to the switch thn you have to trace it back to the fuse box and finally to the battery .
Hope this helps.

Blown globe after spotlights conected

The way that you connected up the spot lights is incorrect and the combined current draw for the head light and the spot light exceeded the fuse capacity. The way to do it is to use the head light wire to trigger a relay for the spot lights that gets the power directly from a fused wire from the positive terminal of the battery. It works like this --you turn on the head lights ---power flows to the head lights and at the same time though the points coil in the relay to earth . this closes the points and allows power from the battery to light up the spot lights.

2000 Ulta Glide just got it from dealership today and the headlamps and other lights will not work.

I'd take it back to the dealership and make them fix it. As I don't work on the computer controlled bikes, I cannot tell you what it causing it. I simply don't know.

Good Luck

I have a 2001 Electra glide standard from the USA. I need to add the low beam for Canadian standards any suggestions. At present when the lights are on only spots come on at front or high beam when...

Someone has evidently rewired the lights on your bike. The spot lights are supposed to be controlled by a seperate switch from the headlight which is supposed to have a high and low beam setting on the handlebars.

Now, figuring out where they made the switch is the problem. I would imagine that the changes have been made behind the headlight. Pull the head light out and look at the head light wiring harness. It should have three wires, yellow, white, and black. It you'll contact me directly at I will send you a diagram of the fairing wiring for a 1989 that may help. It shows you the typical wiring for these lights on an FLHTCU. I may be able to find another wiring diagram as well. I can't send them here because this forum will only allow a file size of 150K. Direct e-mail will work and I'll send a JPEG file to you.
