My van turns over but wont start. ran great yesterday; today nothing.
Start by checking if it's a fuel or fire problem. Take a plug wire off and turn motor over.If there is fire, Take the hose going from the air cleaner to the throtle body off and spray a small amount of carb. cleaner in.If it's a fuel prob.,check the fuel pump relay (under the hood in a black box) (swap the relay out with another relay in the box ) If the relay is o.k., it's probly the fuel pump. If it;s a fireing prob., start with the coil and wires going to the coil.
Is the check engen light on? If not, try to start the car a few times to get it to come on. The check engen light would be a big help. The crank shaft sensor usually makes the motor fire at the wrong time or not at all. If it has the fuel cut off it's a new one on me. It may be connected to the fuel so you don't spin the motor over filling it with unburned fuel. A crank shaft sensor is fairly cheep and easy to replace. Look under the car at the harmonic balancer, behind the balancer is where the sensor gets its signal. The sensor will be held on by a brackit with a 10mm bolt and have a small plug going to it. Just unplug the old one and replace it with a new one. Without having the car to look at this is a cheep part to try.

thanx! i swapped relays, and they seem to be fine. no spark from plug wire, and the fuel pump is not working. kia said that a bad crankshaft sensor would not let the engine run by disabling fuel and spark.... could this be ?
