I had this same problem its the teeth on the bottom of the speedo take your front tire off be careful with your brakes slide out the axle then just turn your front wheel to one side and the speedo wiil fall out I am willing to bet that the teeth are broken on the end they are made of plastic if you want something a little more detailed just drop me a line at email@example.com

You'll need to open up the dial cluster, and look for a couple of thin wires leading to the backplate behind the speedo-face. They should be connected to a removable fitting, either screw, pull, or turn it out, and the bulb should be there. Good luck, it shouldn't be a very hard job though!

Your speed sensor is probably bad, common problem. It's oblong, located near the starter, has one screw holding it in and has a length of shielded wire that goes to a connector. Replace. Can only be tested by replacing with a known good component.
