Why wont my engine start?

you must have no power getting to the coil, make sure you put the + wire on the + terminal of the coil, try running a power wire direct from the battery to the coil to see if you get spark at the plugs when you turn the engine over but make sure you put the power wire on the + terminal. my only other suggestion is to check the points with a multi-meter before you install them as the contact tips on the points may have a coating on them which is stopping the power crossing over, also make sure the point gap has been set properly,

Had a dead short at pos. bat terminal.. it smoked thats how i found it... fixed it but now no spark and no fuel... what happened??? turns over.. lights are bright but nothin...HELP ME PLEASE

In the power distribution center, black fuse box under the hood next to the battery, there is an "engine" fuse. Controls power from the battery to the computer and engine electrical systems. A battery short would very possibly blow this maxi fuse (30 amp?).

Put new battery in a month ago, now when i turn key on nothing happens, no dash indicator lights come and nothing happens when key is turned on

Possible errors are either incomplete or non-load generator ground connections between the engine and car body.

How do you change a battery in a 1999 chevy venture van

Assuming you have a battery charger. Do not plug charger in until after it is connected.
1. Open hood & locate battery.
2. Identify the positive terminal of the battery (usyally has a red cover or red marking.
The battery has side terminals (not posts like nonGM batteries)
4. Connect the + red clamp the the positive terminal wiggle it a little to get good connection.
5. Connect the negative black clamp to the engine block, a handy bracket on engine or the negative terminal on the battery. DO NOT CONNECT TO ALTERNATOR
6. Be sure connections are secure.
7. Plug in charger it should show charging. Leave it over night
8. Before disconnecting charger disconnect power to the charger.

THE FUMES OF A BATTERY ARE EXPLOSIVE DO NOT USE FLAMES NEAR BATTERY
DO NOT ALLOW SPARKS NEAR BATTERY!

I have a 1996 hyundai accent it ran fine took battery off and put it back on now no spark and wont start

Check the ground wire, a black connected to the ( - ) pole, it might have been disconnected. Clean the battery clamp and battery terminals from rust and oxidation, tighten up the TERMINAL. Remember ( + )positive pole is RED and negative ( - ) pole is black, sometimes no plastic cover!

Battery lite came on so i change the battery while driving the car lost power and now does not start is not the altanator

Sounds like you need a new battery, but first have somebody check it out. If it's a battery with little screw caps, unscrew them and see where the fluid is. If you don't see any fluid in any one of those cells, the battery may be ruined. Sometimes putting in new battery acid will bring it back to life, but there's no guarantee that it will. You should check your battery every month unless it is a sealed unit.
Another possibility is that the battery terminals are corroded to the point that it doesn't make connection. The battery can be completely charged and ready to go, but can't get past the white or black gunk covering your battery terminals.

You can clean your battery of corrosion with a mixture of water and baking soda.
Disconnect the terminals, Black (Negative) first, pour the mixture on the battery terminal AND the connectors, brush it off, preferably with a wire brush and put it back together, RED wire first. (Positive charge), then put the BLACK one on. If you do it backwards your battery could spark and cause an explosion. To keep that from happening again, and it will if you just leave it, spray some WD40 on both terminals. That won't hurt anything but it will keep moisture and corrosion away.

Big red honda 300cc 4 wheeler. Starter solonoid just clicks. Battery fully charged. solonoid has 2 wires from battery and a long double wire sealed into the solonoid. Question: How do you replace the...

if you can pull the rubber cover off the solenoid you will see two nuts that are the cable terminals, short across these with a screwdriver or similar(may make a spark) if this causes the starter to turn you probably need a solenoid. You could also try a multi meter or test light on the terminal to the starter, it should have power when you press the start button, if not , new solenoid. to change it disconnect the battery , undo the two cable nuts, and follow the other wire back to its connecter

Keep blowing fuse under hood when i put power wire in to amp

disconnect the negative battery terminal, replace the fuse with all the wires hooked up to the amp and reconnect the battery terminal, that way the initial surge of power goes through the negative terminal and not your inline fuse. That should solve your problem.
