Is there any free play with the clutch lever? only need about a quarter inch of free play.. if there is none, it will burn out the clutch plates.

there should be some "slack" in the cable. that will give free play when you start to pull the clutch lever.

  • tbrat44 May 19, 2009

adjust the cable at the lever turning in the adjusting screw clockwise a turn or two until there is no tension on the lever. but only enough to give the lever some slack, or "free play". then try it. this should work.

What's your problem?1995 yamaha virago 1100 that sometimes you you put into gear and immediately dies

The Clutch on some bikes will disengage the starter motor. Yamaha will not allow you to engage gear when the side stand is down. Hope this gives you some idea

1995 900 sp clutch does not disengage when lever

hi,this may help,it sounds like your clutch plates are stuck together, this is quite common on bikes that have been parked up for a while, mine does it ocasionally,i fix it by getting the bike moving and crash starting it,once you have got it running and moving with the bike in the highest gear you can get it into(you can change up and down the gearbox without the clutch and not do any damage)simply pull the clutch lever in and roll on and off the throttle a couple of times and the clutch should disengage...hope this helps

Clutch not fully disengaging

You have either air in your hydraulics which you need to bleed or else the clutch plates are worn/warped....here is the repair manual....

1100 wierd clutch disengage problem

Bleed your slave cylinder on the sprocket cover and refill the hydraulic fluid. If you have any leaks you will get air in the system and it will not fully disengage the clutch. As for the 750, they have cable clutches and you just need to adjust the slack of the cable.
