Shifting to neutral is a bit tricky until you get the hang of it. From first gear, shift only halfway. From second downshift only halfway. Don't do a full pull on the shifter just lightly. It takes some finesse and practice, but you will get it in no time.

94 Honda Accord 5 Speed Won't Go into 4th Gear

Try this. Try double clutching the shift. If this works, and you can get the shift to go without any other problems the most likely the syncros are gone on 4'th gear. If that is the case then you either fix the syncros or learn how to match engine and tranny for that gear.

Hope this helps

My honda 400x keeps making a noise in second gear but will still run

second gear primary and secondary coggs are TOAST! its a complete engine teardown and both the 2nd gear primary and secondary need to be relaced. If you dont eventually it will break the shift fork and do a lot of damage and most likely lock up the transmission.

PLEASE HELP Metal grinding while driving

Sounds like the thrust bearing is worn to the bleep. Though I suspect it's not Synchromeshing. Some part of the Clutch mechanism failing critically.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manual_transmission#Synchromesh
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clutch
Did it run out of Oil? BUT then maybe damage has been done to both the internal of the Gearbox as well as the clutch, so yeah STOP driving it before more damage that can set you back a fortune

Tranmission after starting when shift to reverse doesn't move

Hi,
Though I'm not an expert on Hondas, I've been around a few trannies. An automatic transmission generally does not have a drain plug. The pan bolts are loosened and the transmission fluid is drained into a catch pan. A new gasket then applied to the pan and the pan then bolted back to position then new fluid added.
Are you sure of your fluid level? Sometimes a low level of fluid can cause a problem like this.
Hope this helps...
Good luck!

Jumps out of gear when brake hard

The crunching noise is the slider gear going into the chosen gear. This is normal. The false neutral is likely just a case of shift pedal
adjustment. When braking hard you probably have your toe on top of the shift lever. If so then lower the front of the shift lever one or two notches. If your toe is below the shift lever then raise the lever one or two notches. THis adjustment should fix the problem.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

Hard Shifting 1997 5 Speed Honda Civic Manual Transmission

if its manual transmission, when moving in any gear try stepping on the gas pedal, does the engine feels like its running away? if it does it maybe the clutch lining is expended expensive job.
If not you have to check the clutch fluid level or a leak in the master cylinder (at the foot pedal) assembly or in the slave(clutch lever actuator) the clutch actuator may not be traveling (pushing) sufficiently to give you an adequate clutch separation in other words you are trying to shift the gears with little or no clutch at all.
There is an overhaul kit that you can buy (cheap) for the master or the slave. easy to do really just remove, disassemble, replace the rubber seals and cups, reinstall, bleed the air out.
