1987 f 150 6 cyl starts and runs till hot then wont till cooled off

Probably a bad ignition coil or a bad TFI module (the ignition control module). Much testing could be done to find the faulty part, but I believe if you take the TFI module to a parts store, it could be tested.

1987 Honda XR 600 R will not start when hot

Hi, Talynn91 and the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ignition coil.
2. Faulty spark plug cables.
3. Faulty temperature sensor.
4. Faulty starter motor.
5. Valves adjusted too tight.
6. Spark plug gap too wide.
7. Fuel has vapor lock.

2000 blast will start when its cold and dies after it warms up then wont start again till cools back down.

Most likely a bad ignition coil. They get hot and refuse to work until they cool down.

Car starts fine maybe a couple of cranks but nothing serious, runs really good after starting, can drive it all day.But when you shut it off, it dosnt want to start, untill 5 or ten minutes go by than it...

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the ignition coil. If the ignition coil gets hot the car may stall or may not start right away till it cools down. The ignition coil is surely faulty and replacement is surely necessary.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Chain saw starts up runs for a while till it gets hot .then it quits and wont start again till it cools off.

hi

could be breather playing up , but most likley ignition coil breaking down / going open circuit when hot

try another ignition coil , reset air gap to 0.010 "
fit new plug , and make sure to apply loctite to coil mounting bolts/ screws

cheers

The cold pipes means the bike is not firing on those cylinders. Replace all the plugs and start it. Or you will need some elecrical diagnosis. Chaz Moto DC

2000 silvarado 5.3 vortech runs good for awhile after it gets hot it shuts off and wont crank until it cools off

do you mean wont crank over and start till it cools off? if thats the case it sounds like you got a bad crankshaft position sensor,,thge sensor is fine when its cold and warm but when it gets hot it goes open and the cars computer cant see the rpm and shuts the engine off,and then when it cools off the sensor works again and the car starts and is ok till it gets hot again,if thats the case thats what it is,,,hope this helps,,,about $100 for the part

I have a 1986 gsxr 400 just bought it.it only starts the odd time

You should also check ignition, there may be a fault with the coil or ignition generator, am manual would give you basic tests, are all jets clean and clear? Is the float valve letting enough fuel into the float chamber? Is ther good supplies of fuel getting to the main float valve's? Check your spark, it should be ccrisp and fat, and be powerful, ignition systems have so much that can develope intermittent faults, i no your truly in a Nightmare! Good Luck, The Yeti - Hastings
