SOURCE: Yamaha 1100 Drag Star 2001 Custom motor starter,

These parts are fairly reliable. Rather than buying new, you should be able to pick one up from a motorcycle breaker who will post it to you. I would expect to pay about £60-£100 tops in the UK (Depending on mileage). ANy Yamaha dealer will be happy to order you one new, but they are a hell of a price!

Wow. Probably the positive and negative connections have gotten reversed in the solinoid and starter motor. Still stuck? I recommend a DIYer's repair manual that shows electrical connections for the starting system.

1993 yamaha vetura royal vmax import.starter motor drains the battery starter motor spins ok when not in the engine

If the starter motor spins but the motor does not turn over, the problem will be the starter clutch. You can buy many of the individual clutch parts at Babbitt's. If that doesn't work out, Google motorcycle salvage yamaha and see what you can find there. Please rate my answer. Thanks. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx

2006 Yamaha Vstar custom starter issue

The one way clutch that engages the starter motor to the flywheel is chattered or damaged and needs to be replaced. The starter motor turns a small gear that is connected to a large gear by a small chain. On the side of the big gear is a smooth machined surface that the one way clutch grabs when the starter is engaged. The surface is chattered and the three grabber rollers wont jam or grab on the surface unless it is smooth therefore the starter spins but the motor does not. You will probably have to replace the large gear and possibly the three rollers also.

Charge battery to full, start in neutral, still clicks? Bad ground, or bad connection. Jump starter solenoid with screwdriver, etc. if motor turns over the relay is bad. Chaz Moto DC

Sticking starting motor

If you have already tried a new starter and had the same results,I would say,you need to replace the starter clutch. If you haven't tried a new starter yet,I would say,Try that first,It's a whole lot easier to replace than the starter clutch.

Please take time to rate this fixya.
