you're welcome and dont rush anything... make sure your clutch basket isn't worn out and your steels measure to the proper thickness checking at 3 spots on each steel plate... This is important for clutch longevity

different gear ratios... I bet its slipping in all the gears you just dont know it. Hold the front brake and without giving it gas let the clutch out while in first gear. you should have to fight to keep it from moving.

SOURCE: Where can i buy a

Clymer lists a manual covering the R1200C as item #M5033.

the BMW factory manual is available from your BMW dealer in CD.

You need a special bleed fitting to bleed the clutch on your R1200C motorcycle. Other than the special fitting, the clutch bleed process is very conventional. I can't locate the part number for the speacial fitting right now, but a goood BMW dealer can order it for you.

One thing that causes the clutch to slip is overfilling the gearbox. The level should be at the BOTTOM of the filler hole threads. More than that can cause oil to run down the clutch release rod. Once it is oil soaked, there is little you can do.

Pit bike starts, idle and revs good. But when I put it in any gear it cuts out. No electric starter, battery or kick stand switch!!? Help please?

does this happen as soon as you put it into gear or does it do it when you let the clutch out,as this sounds like the clutch plates are stuck together, you need to drain the oil then take the clutch cable off ,then take the clutch cover off remove the bolts and springs from the clucth basket make sure you do this evenly, then you take the clutch plates out if they all come out together then there locked up pry them apart and see if there is blueing of the steel plates and check the fibre plate for wear or cracks ,if the plates are bluing you may need to renew all of the steel and friction as this may have been caused by slipping the clutch or not having the clutch adjusted right and you may need a different type of oil that is suited to wet clutches.hopefully it could be just a matter of it sitting too long without being used.cheers hopes this helps

I have a 98 BMW 328i with a manual 5-speed transmission. One day I get in the car and noticed it was hard to shift into gears the clutch felt good and car would drive normal just stiff to put into gears...

It could be typically due to one or two things:

1) The clutch plate is sticking on the gearbox splines due to build up of corrosion or lack of lubrication. May happen especially after long standing with no operation.

2) Gearbox oil is old and requires replacement.

3) Clutch operation requires adjustment or repair. Check clutch fluid or cable condition and operation.

1970 650 trimuph wont take any gears just grinds

Clutch might be good, but it could be out of adjustment.

One test is with engine off, pull in clutch and cycle kickstarter a few times.

There should be drag for the first 2-3 kicks, then it should free up (the clutch plates tend to "weld up" [just a term] from heat wile running).

If not remove primary cover.

Pull in clutch lever, cycle kickstarter, and watch that pressure plate isn't "wobbling" as it turns.
If it does, you'll have to tighten 1 or 2 of the 3 clutch spring nuts to get it to turn true.

Then adjust the clutch pushrod free play.
In the center of clutch pressure plate, loosen lock nut and back off adjuster screw.
Tighten screw until it you fell it just "touch" the push rod behind it.
Back off the screw 1/4 to 1/2, hold it from turning, and lock down the lock nut.
Adjust the clutch cable so there's about 1/16" to 1/8" slack at the lever end.

My bike wont shift in gear at all, even after i let go of my clucth lever

Hi, My guess is that the clutch needs adjustment. Try adjusting the clutch lever (tighter).
If that doesn't work try a new clutch cable. It maybe stretched.
The next thing would be oil or greece on the clutch it self. Only if you have done this should you attempt to clean and adjust clutch. Bring to bike shop for further repairs.

Adjust the clutch.

If this is a hydraulically operated clutch, ensure there is sufficient operating fluid in the master cylinder.

If that is ineffective, replace the clutch.
