The ignition key is the release for the seat, insert the key and turn it anti clockwise making sure not to put the steering lock on.

The switch that is activated by the canister is your likely culprit based that it was working prior to emptying. Youtube has a quick video on this solution.

Piaggio mp3 400 unable to manualy lift seat. to gain access to battery compartment.

There is a compartment under the saddle see picture 03 18 below. You need to use the key fob to open the saddle. The manual says open the fixings A and remove the cover B. what type of fixings are not stated.

My motor cycle will not start if you turn the key it just makes a clicking noise

It sounds a lot like the battery is dead. You can either try jump starting it (12 volt) or replacing the battery. The battery itself is locaated under the saddle. Remove the rear seat by removing the allen head screw that attaches the rear seat to the rear fender. When you remove the rear seat, you will see an odd looking hex head bolt with a cylindrical cap that holds the main saddle in place; remove that also. The main saddle will lift up and back to reveal the battery.

If it starts and the battery charges (run the motorcycle for 20-30 minutes), you are good to go. If the battery does not charge after running it for that amoount of time, you will need to replace the battery.

Need to get to battery on a 2003 suzuki vl 800

To access the battery, you will need to remove the saddle. The rear part of the saddle is held in place with an allen head bolt and the front part of the saddle is held in place with a ringed nut.

Remove the allen head bold holding the rear part of the saddle in place. Lift up and back to remove this part of the saddle. Now you will see a bolt with a slotted ring around the circumferance of the smooth head. The bolt head is at the bottom of what you can see. You will have to use an open-end wrench to remove this one (a socket will not work on this). Both wrenches you need are in your tool kit that came with the bike. Once this is off, remove the front saddle by lifting up and backward. You will see the battery under the seat.
